Espresso S Good But Why Decaffeinated Coffee

I love above all else to drink coffee, but I am still totally baffled why anyone would drink decaffeinated varieties. What about the needed and pleasurable caffeine rush? What would possess anyone in his or her right state of mind to give up on a good espresso for that dribble? Does this not take away the whole reason for drinking a decent cup of delicious coffee? I was soon to learn why this drudgery even existed. As I discovered pregnancy, I quickly developed a new taste for it. In fact, strangely enough, I actually really started to like it for the flavor alone. Weird, right? Hormonal reaction, maybe? That may have been a possibility, but you should read the rest. Unfortunately, for everyone else, I cannot resist the insatiable urge to learn absolutely everything there is to know about pregnancy and how to avoid all known complications, diseases and anything, even the bubonic plague. Science said to avoid aspartame because how much of it was harmful was unknown. Luncheon meat was out because of a possible infection from listeria. Caffeine was the biggest fear – possible miscarriage. The fact is that you have to consume a minimum of three portions of normal coffee each day to do this, but it frightened me enough to settling for decaffeinated drinks and simple sodas. Then, reaching my half term point, I was horrified to discover through some television coverage that some decaffeinated varieties from coffeehouses may not be as caffeine free as they had claimed. Of course, it is obvious that there was some fractional amount of caffeine left in my drinks. However, I never dreamt that I was consuming close to that in the regular drinks. Then I discovered something else. In almost 60% of cases, the caffeine concentration in decaf was no different from the regular. As if that wasnt enough, scientists discovered that the problem lay in a cross brewing process or the very brewing machines that had not been cleaned properly after the last batch. Normally that would not be a problem. However, in my case that was out of the question. I understand now that during pregnancy my instincts to protect my unborn child left me now mad enough to eliminate any coffee types from my diet altogether, unless I made it myself. My pregnancy was to go undisturbed with any hint of decaf and that it frankly didnt help my moods during my last trimester.

The Meaning Of A Single Rose

Many feelings can be expressed by flowers, and this non verbal language is very popular nowadays. Each one of us has sent at least one message to someone with the help of a flower. Sometimes whole conversations between two lovers are spoken through flowers. The most meaningful flower of all is considered to be the red rose. A single red rose is now usually used to send a message of love. There are also many messages that can be sent through single roses, like : a single white rose is used by someone that wants to say 'I'm sorry' to his/her significant other. It also has some other meanings. Since medieval times white roses are considered to be a symbol of light, purity and innocence, so sending a single white rose may also mean that you consider that person to be pure, or that your love is very pure. a single yellow rose expresses happiness and love. Sending a single yellow rose to your half means that you are happy with your love and relationship. But be careful because single white roses have two meanings! They can also express jealousy, so sending someone one can mean that you are jealous. The best thing to do is to attach a note to the rose, explaining exactly what you mean. a single peach rose is used to send a message of friendship to a best friend or even to a lover. a single purple rose expresses beauty. So if you want to tell someone he/she is beautiful send him/her a single purple rose. a single pink rose is an elegant way of thanking someone because this is what pink roses transmit: gratitude. Finally, a single black rose says 'it is over'. This is a way of ending a relationship sending a single black rose together with a note. But, as mentioned before, the single red rose is considered to be the most beautiful and romantic. Even from the ancient roman times lovers give each other red roses. In those times, roses were the symbol of the roman goddess Venus, the goddess of love, so ever since then a single red rose clearly states 'I love you'. Also the red rose petals are used to symbolize love, and to create a romantic atmosphere. They can be left to float in the bath tub, or simply spread throughout the house or near the fireplace. If your lover is away you can add some rose petals to your letters. Red roses have been a continuos source of inspiration for artists everywhere and thousands of paintings and poems have been written inspired by roses or by a single red rose. It has been said that a single red rose speaks volumes, so choose the fines rose and send it to someone you love now.

    Backpacking Boots

: Backpacking boots or any of the traditional hiking boots may have their place. That place just isn't on my feet. If you don't have specific problems with your ankles, there isn't snow on the ground, and you don't carry more than thirty pounds on your back, try running shoes. You'll be so happy that you did. Backpacking or hiking boots are heavy, hot, stinky, and stay wet forever. Decent running shoes can be as light as one pound per pair, while most hiking boots top three pounds. Army research showed that a pound on your feet is like five on your back (some say six), so three pound boots naturally leave you more tired at the end of the day. Backpacking Boots And Ankle Support Some backpackers argue for the necessity of ankle support, but throughout history people managed without stiff ankle supporting boots. Even if you are carrying thirty pounds on your back, consider the fact that there are people walking around that weigh 60 pounds more than you, and without problems. It is an issue of weak ankles, not a lack of support. To solve this problem, try walking a little each week on uneven ground (not in the mall). While some may really need hiking boots, why not be sure your ankle problems are not just due to a lack of exercise before you settle for backpacking in heavy boots. It is true you may need hiking boots if you carry more than thirty pounds when you backpack. The solution to that is to cut the weight down. Why Running Shoes? Your feet will stay cooler in a good running shoes than in hiking boots, and this means fewer blisters. Once I switched to running shoes and lightweight socks years ago, I stopped getting blisters, and I don't mean fewer blisters. I mean no blisters. I haven't had one blister since I switched, not even after a 110 mile 7 day trek in the Rockies, for example. For socks, I have used nothing but thin nylon dress socks for years. They are cheap, and they weigh less than an ounce per pair. That makes it easy to carry enough fresh socks. They also can be easily rinsed out and dried quickly. My feet won't tolerate hotter socks now, although I do bring a warmer pair for sleeping or for cold weather. Unless you have size 13 feet, you should be able to find good running or hiking shoes that are under two pounds per pair. Carry a kitchen scale to the shoe store if you have to. Unfortunately, catalogs sometimes don't show weights, so you'll have to guess which hiking shoes are lighter based on the description and photo. The higher quality shoes have soles stitched to the uppers. Look under the insoles to check this. A removable insole is another sign of quality shoes. Usually you can find a good pair of running shoes under 28 ounces and under $80, or half of that on closeouts. Until you try it, you won't know how liberating it is to ditch the heavy pack and heavy boots and hit the trail in running shoes. Go more miles more comfortably. Run up a hill just to see what's there. I haven't yet met a person who has tried backpacking in hiking shoes or running shoes and then returned to backpacking boots.

Roman Shades Give Old House A Rich Look

It was a 150 year old farmhouse and we were lucky to get it. The house had been well cared for, but nonetheless was showing its age. It had been more than a quarter of a century since it had been remodelled. The thing that struck us most about the two story stone and frame structure was that it was so much different than the modern homes in a subdivision that had sprung up nearby. This house had tremendous character. I am not a decorator and will be the first to admit it. Personally, I didn’t see what was wrong with putting an orange bean bag chair in the living room. I guess it was something about traditional styling and an emphasis on forest green. My wife is only marginally better at home decorating than me, but she emphatically threw out the bean bag. Fortunately, we have a family friend who is a near genius with decorating ideas. She can pluck items out of the trash and put them together in such a way that Better Homes And Gardens would include them in a pictorial feature layout. Home dйcor is a hobby for her and she jumped at the chance to take on the challenge of our new old house. I asked her about the bean bag and got only a chilly stare in response. Our goal was to decorate the house a little differently. We wanted to reflect its character. We wanted the house to be just a little different. We wanted it different, but not too different. We weren’t to the point of Japanese screens and seating ourselves with pillows on the floor. We called on our friend to help out. When our friend got to the dining room, she suggested Roman blinds, also called roman shades. She ticked off the reasons. + First, they were classy and different. The fabric of the shades could be made from the same material as the table cloth and would go well with our antique dining room set. + Second, the dining room of the old house had non standard sized windows. After measuring them she announced it would be hard to find curtains or blinds to fit them. Blinds, curtains or shutters would have to be custom made. + Third, the house has beautiful native oak woodwork. We had just finished stripping layers of paint accumulated over the past century. The wood had been conditioned, sealed and finished. It had beautiful graining. We didn’t want to cover it up with curtains or drapes. + Finally, she could make them and save us some money. She is very talented at making curtains and shades. Those reasons sounded good to me. Especially the last one. When you take on the project of buying and restoring an old house, saving money becomes a real test. A Description of Roman Shades A roman shade is a rectangle of fabric that can be lowered at will. It rises in even folds. These folds are created by a system of rings, cords and horizontal battens. When the shade is lowered completely down it is a flat panel, although some styles have slight folds at each batten. The shade hangs from a board attached to the top of the window frame and hangs within the window framework. This board can also be fastened to the wall above the window, if so desired. Our friend chose to line the panels of our shades. She did this to provide some additional insulation for the windows. The bitter winter winds, known to sweep across the fields and forests in our part of the world, rattles the windows and draws heat from even the best built homes. Lined shades were just one more barrier to help maintain interior temperatures. Where You Might Use Them Roman shades can be used in almost any room where you might consider mini blinds or some other type of shade or blind. They can be made from almost any fabric and either be lined or unlined. As sheers, they can be used in combination with drapes to give a formal dining room and special touch of grace. In a bedroom they are excellent for room darkening and privacy. Our friend was able to make the shades for our dining room windows. They hung in folds about eight inches wide, which are about as wide as you would want. Although I did not previously know what roman shades were, I found out there were dozens of patterns available for making them. As a courtesy, I suppose, I was asked for my thoughts on which pattern to choose. (My suggestion was promptly discarded. I think it landed next to the bean bag.) Anyone with a sewing machine and a little talent can make their own roman shades. Home decorating books, magazines and websites have patterns available, as do sewing supply centres. Talent with a sewing machine is not required, of course. There are also a number of stores and e stores that have these shades for sale in either standard or custom sizes and in your choice of fabrics and colours. When our friend got done with decorating the dining room and hanging her shade creations, the effect was just what we wanted. The room had a rich feel to it that went perfectly with the styling of the old house and the furniture we placed in it. The roman blinds were eye catching and different without being strange or out of place. First time visitors always stopped for a second look and complimented them, which nice. In the meantime, I hid the bean bag chair in the old barn. I have to admit that it didn’t go with the current home dйcor, but you never know...

    Practice Phrasal Verbs

An idiom is a phrase that has a meaning different from the meanings of its parts. Idiomatic expressions are commonly used and understood slang phrases. An essential kind of idiom is the phrasal verb, a verb whose meaning is changed when a second word is added. The second word is known as a particle. Verb + particle = phrasal verb. Below are some examples of phrasal verbs. To look means to see, or to search for something. Look up to get or find information. Examples include: Would you look up his phone number for me? I don't know what time the next bus leaves. I'll have to look it up. Look up to to admire. I've always looked up to my wife. Look on to watch, like a spectator watches a game or event. We looked on sadly as the football team lost. Look out to be careful or watchful (for some type of danger). Look out! That bus is coming this way! Look out for falling hail as you drive on the road. Look out for to protect My older sister looks out for me in the playground. They're cousins who always look out for each other. Much Continued ESL Success, The creator of ESL Free Lesson

    What Is Carpal Tunnel

In the human wrist there is a sheath of tough connective tissue which surrounds and protects the median nerve and tendons that attach muscles to the wrist and hand bones. The Carpal Tunnel is the space above ane below this sheath and the bones making up the carpal bones in the wrist and hand. The term 'Carpal Tunnel' is also used quite commonly to refer to 'Carpal Tunnel Syndrome' which is a condition where the median nerve is pinched within the tunnel and causes pain and/or numbness of the wrist/hand, once thought to be a result of repetitive motion such as painting or typing. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a medical condition more common in women than it is in men, and has a peak incidence around age 50 though it can occur in any adult. What are the Symptoms of Carpal Tunnel? The first symptoms of Carpal Tunnel usually appear when trying to sleep. Symptoms range from a burning, tingling numbness in the fingers, especially of the thumb and index and middle fingers to difficulty gripping and making a fist. Inability to firmly grasp and dropping things can become an issue. If left untreated the symptoms can progress, and increasing pain intensity can further restrict hand functionality. In the early stages of Carpal Tunnel, individuals often mistakenly blame the tingling numbness on their sleeping position, thinking their hands have had restricted circulation and are simply falling asleep. It is important to note that unless numbness is one of the predominant symptoms, it is unlikely the symptoms are primarily caused by Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. In effect, pain of any type, location, or severity with the absence of significant numbness, is not likely to fall under this diagnosis. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is known as a "hidden disability" because people can do some things with their hands and appear to have normal hand function. However, despite these appearances, those afflicted often live with severely restricted hand activity due to the pain. What Causes Carpal Tunnel? The jury is still out on this one. Most cases of Carpal Tunnel are idiopathic. Many people with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome have gradual increasing symptoms over time. A common factor in developing Carpal Tunnel symptoms is increased hand use or activity. In summary, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can easily be aggravated by activity. People that develop symptoms will frequently blame this on their work exposure, even though this exposure may indeed have little to do with the root cause of their Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. You Need A Clean And Attractive Office

A busy professional life has its own setbacks and having a cluttered office is probably one of them. Remember the first time you moved into your office? Everything was so spick and span and the brand new equipment and furniture looked tidy and in place and clutter and mess was no where to be found. But months after, you will probably notice your workplace crammed full with papers and other office supplies. Having a cluttered office is not unsightly and annoying to one’s eyes but can also affect your working attitude and work temperament. Having an organized and clean office will keep you focused and motivated to complete your tasks well. However, since a lot of busy working people do not have plenty of time to keep their office clean at all times, working on a system that would always keep your office organized (so you do not have to spend time cleaning up your office) is the common sense approach. Here are a few practically tips to keep your rubbish away and ensure your office remains clean and spacious at all times. 1. First, you need to put together your own de cluttering system and devise a way to clean up your room in one direction in order to avoid going back and jumping forward. Being more organized about organizing will give you a measure on how much cleaning up have you already completed. Set a regular cleaning schedule and do not wait for the mess to pile up. Work quickly but efficiently within the time you allotted in cleaning up your office. You can start by getting rid of all the clutter that covers your office table. Take away everything like old memos, working drafts and all other stuff that you do not need anymore. Get hold of the waste bin (or paper recycling bin) so you can immediately dispose of everything that you do not need anymore. You can also have a box at hand whether you can place everything you still need. The last step in the de cluttering process is pretty simple. All clutter goes to the bin while all those that need safekeeping or filing goes to the box. 2. Updated filing and organized storage helps you a lot in maintaining the cleanliness in your office. Plus, they can help you save time and energy when you try to look for the things that you need. Use cabinets and shelves to keep your paper files from piling up on your office desk. Label your files and make sure that the items are organized according to fixed categories such as notes, letters, documents, contracts and financial records. Place on your office table only those things that you need to work on for the day. Once a day’s work is done, you can put those papers into fillers that can be organized by priority – what needs to be done today, or by the end of the week or by the end of the month. 3. Take a second look at your office layout. Make sure that your desk does not eat up needed working space or prevent easy movement around the office. Keep office supplies like pens, clips, post it notes and staplers inside your desk drawers. Place the computer and the phone somewhere that you would have easy access to and be sure to put neatly together all loose wiring. Place other equipment such as printers, fax machines and fillers in shelves that would not take away badly needed space. A good office layout also means good lighting. Allow as much natural light to get inside your office to make it appear more airy. 4. Do some cleaning on a daily basis. Taking a few seconds everyday to dust everything in sight will probably save you hours of cleaning up once the clutter has piled up and the dust has stuck up in your equipment. Let in fresh air into your office by opening up your window for a few minutes. Emptying your trash bin and clearing up your desk at the end of each day’s work will also be very helpful in keeping your office clean and keep you from ever having to contend with a towering pile of papers on your desk. A clean and empty desk will also be a welcome sight when you get into your office the following day. 5. Try to be more creative when decorating your office. Place some art pieces and some flowers and plants into your total office environment. You can also add a personalized touch by displaying family pictures or inspirational quotes that you probably think would help make your office not only clean and tidy but a more enjoyable and agreeable workplace. A clean and organized office will help you do your work efficiently and effectively. Putting these tips into good use can help you not only have a tidier workplace but it will give you a good working environment where you can make each working day a lot more fulfilling. A clean office is something that you owe to yourself more than anything else!
