    Decorating Christmas Trees With Style

Does your christmas tree look too old fashioned? When it comes to decorating christmas trees there are some style tips to follow so that they look more up to date and stylish. STYLE TIP #1: The big fat round artificial christmas tree is out and the slim artificial tree is in. This is because when it comes to decorating christmas tree the trends lately lean more towards tall and conical shapes rather than fat and round shapes. This style is more reminiscent of the modernist trends from the seventies and strangely, the tall conical trees that were in favor during the Victorian era. It was Queen Victoria who insisted on the tallest tree possible for her living room and the narrow tree girth was also necessary in order to fit these tall slender trees into Victorian homes. The same could be said of modern day "cozy" condo lofts and apartments which often have tall ceiling heights but less floor space and suit a slim artificial christmas tree much better than a chubbier version. Natural trees that tend to be tall and slim are the spruces and firs. They just have a slimmer girth than pines and cedars. When it comes to fake xmas trees, more and more manufacturers are releasing slim artificial trees that can fit more easily into our cramped urban lifestyle. STYLE TIP #2 Artificial is in and natural trees are out. Okay, so maybe real christmas trees will never go out of fashion but if you are a bit of style snob then the trend is towards an artificial tree in the wildest color you can find. Basically the idea is to find a tree that looks like it would go well in Lieutenant O'Hura's bedroom on Star Trek. Every year, artificial trees are looking more and more cartoonish. You can buy them in a spectrum of colors and in many different materials including PVC, vinyl and tinsel. The slim artificial trees in wild colors are very popular with younger people. Some sites sell xmas trees that are nothing more than a coiled spiral of yellow pink and blue lights that are free standing and merely emulate the shape of a christmas tree. Probably the two most trendy colors for trees are the red and white. The red trees have an offbeat look to them that is reminiscent of a bad Kodachrome photograph from the seventies. However that is part of their appeal. The white artificial trees are just simply gorgeous, especially the prelit artificial trees with branches that have glowing fiber optic tips. STYLE TIP #3 One of the secrets to decorating christmas trees in a stylish way is to be minimalist. To be truly fashionable, stick to decorating the tree in just one or two colors. For instance you could decorate a natural evergreen with only gold bows and natural crystals. A white christmas tree looks great with uniformly sized christmas balls from top to bottom. A sky blue artificial tree could be decorated in monochrome with glass balls that are a deeper shade of blue. The minimalist approach also goes for the style of decorations that you choose. Stick to one or two shapes to keep the look of the tree uncluttered and sleek. For instance, forget the round glass balls and choose conical glass balls and flat spheres only to decorate an entire tree. By the way the craze for slim artificial xmas trees is similar to the current craze for slim conical christmas decorations. Conical decorations are very much identified with retro seventies styles. STYLE TIP #4: One of the first rules of fashion and also interior decorating is to break all the rules and the same applies to Christmas trees. This means deliberately ignoring christmas traditions with the idea of putting a new spin on them. For instance instead of using the classic angel or star as a tree topper you could try topping it with a spray of fibrous waving multicolored diodes or a design that you have constructed using christmas rope lights. One interesting idea is to make a star out of red velvet and decorate it with peacock feathers, faux gems and gold bows. Another way to break a traditional rule is to decorate your tree with just one color. To be different you could also forget about putting largest decorations at the bottom and the tiny ones at the top, put the large ones on the top and the tiny ones on the bottom. Another idea is to make all of your christmas tree decorations the same size. One big trend that has dominated Christmas style and design for the last few years is to hang your Christmas tree anyway you can think of, as long as it is not standing up. This includes hanging it upside down from the ceiling, suspending it sideways from the ceiling and buttressing it against a wall. STYLE TIP #5 One of the secrets to decorating christmas trees is that the more personal it is the better. A good example is the chef who decorates his tree using only plastic forks and knives or the new mom who decorates her tree with baby bottles and baby toys. If you celebrate the Chinese New Year you might want to decorate your tree with Buddha figures and fortune cookies. Another great way to personalize your christmas tree is to use baked goods. Tree ornaments made of pink and yellow gumdrops and toothpicks look nice on an artificial white christmas tree for example. Home made gingerbread men and short bread snowmen would go well with a red artificial prelit christmas tree. One place to get inspiration is the candy store. Choose your favorite candies that you loved as a kid. A smaller tree looks fantastic decorated in candies wrapped in foil. However once again the key is to be minimalist. Don't decorate the tree with seven or eight kinds of candy. Decorate it with two to three kinds to give it a kind of uniformity. If you haven't figured it out by now one of the keys to decorating christmas trees is repetition on a single theme. If you like teddy bears than decorate the entire tree in teddy bears and one other design element, such as red glass balls. Keeping it simple yet elegant is the key to decorating christmas trees.

    Christmas Article 32

    32. Holiday Parties at Work During Christmas and the holiday season, the festive spirit and relaxed mood even extends into the workplace where the pace is likely to slow considerably as the volume of work is lessened. By having parties at work, everyone can unwind a bit, have some fun and enjoy the satisfaction from the results of a year of hard work. Colleagues at work can celebrate goals that have been accomplished and look forward to an even more rewarding year. Parties at work during Christmas and the holidays may include a voluntary gift exchange and individuals have to make a decision whether or not they will participate in it. In a situation where an individual may not know other colleagues very well and is unsure what Christmas present to give, it may be better to opt out of exchanging gifts. If the party and gift exchange is among a fairly large group, such as company wide or of several departments, it may not be noticed if someone doesn't participate in the gift exchange. If it's a small group however, it is likely to be noticed. To eliminate the possibility of any negative talk regarding non participation, it would likely be better to be among those agreeing to exchange gifts. A basic thing to remember in selecting gifts for Christmas gift exchanges at work, which are usually called Secret Santa, is to not choose anything that could be considered inappropriate or offensive. Although the sender won't be revealed, it won't leave a good feeling and it will become the topic of conversation among everyone. Separate from the 'Secret Santa' Christmas gift exchange at work, it may also be a good gesture to give Christmas presents, which can be small tokens or even just candies or treats, to colleagues in a division or department if you are the respective leader or manager. Such a gesture shows thoughtfulness and that the work of individuals has been appreciated. It will be a good note on which to end the year and to start a new one. Another important thing to observe during Christmas parties at work is good behavior that is considered casual but still business like. Although there will be much fun and laughter, it will still be occurring within a work environment or within the parameters of work. So, individuals will still be observed by their colleagues. It is of utmost importance to be careful about how much drinking is done, or how much alcohol is consumed, because drunken or any offensive behavior will not be tolerated and could have negative repercussions on one's career. The consideration of good etiquette is also something to be remembered and observed at holiday parties at work. As examples, talking and laughing with food in one's mouth, emptying a platter of delicious hors d'ouevres or bagging candies, cookies or treats to take home are all considered poor etiquette. A Christmas party at work can also provide an opportunity to have a brief conversation with supervisors, managers and other company officials whom one may not come in contact with frequently. It can be the ideal time to leave a good impression on a key decision maker. By introducing yourself and striking up a conversation, it is also putting a face to a name or making yourself known and standing out among fellow colleagues. For those who are strivers and who want to advance such interactions at work holiday and Christmas parties can be beneficial and advantageous. It's therefore important to keep in mind that while Christmas parties at work are fun, there are still ways to inconspicuously seek some benefit while you laugh and enjoy a break from the stress, competitiveness and daily routine of work.

    Metallica Reviewed

Metallica was formed in 1981 in California by Lars Ulrich (drums) and James Hetfield (guitar/vocals). They recorded their first demo, No Life Til' Leather, with Lloyd Grand (guitar), who was replaced in January 1982 by Dave Mustaine. At the end of 1982, Cliff Burton (bass) joined the band. Dave Mustaine departed to form Megadeth and was replaced by Kirk Hammett. Metallica's first album Kill 'em All in 1983 is a testament to the real beginnings of the sub genre of heavy metal music known as thrash. If you look back on the thrash scene that was going on then, there might have been a couple bands that were more definitive of thrash music such as DRI and Megadeth. However, the album everyone remembers most is Kill 'em All. After the success of Kill 'em All, Metallica came back in 1984 with Ride the Lightning. I've always found this to be another great album with flat out better production than the first album. It leans a bit more on traditional heavy metal instead of thrash. I personally prefer more thrash, but to each his own. The next time Metallica came back with an album it was Master of Puppets in 1986 and is widely considered to be among the greatest metal albums ever released. After that they had ...And Justice for All in 1988 which is one of their most polished albums ever technique wise. With the commercial success of their next album in 1991 (Metallica) also known as the Black album, Metallica started to get further and further away from their original metal sound. Their popularity has gradually declined since then. However their early work including their first 5 or 6 albums will be remembered as some of the greatest metal albums ever released. Their albums include Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, Garage Days Re Revisited [EP], ...And Justice for All, Metallica, Load, Reload and St. Anger.

The Simple Truth About Optimized Web Content

To rank well in any search engine, the words you write should never be a second thought. They must be your absolute first thought. Give careful attention to the words on your web pages right from the very beginning of planning and designing your website. Content development experts know the one thing that causes websites to win or lose in the search engines is Words. The words you use and how you use them to create your content is your best asset is to naturally market your website in the search engines. Why is that? Website content that is "optimized" for the search engines deliberately aims right at the very words and phrases people are typing as search terms as they hunt for information or products. IT ALL MAKES SENSE There is nothing mystical about it... it's as black and white and sensible as it gets! Readers of web pages need to be immediately assured that the page they land on is what they're after. The page needs to be clear and on point. It's the same for the major search engines. Just like people, the search engines need to identify right away what a web page is about. They need definite pointers and clues to guide how and where they will list your web page in their reports. This is done with the use of keywords. Targeting the best words and phrases is done through keyword research. Research digs up the niche words that people really do use; words that have a good demand and low supply! Your website development must begin here, to be a contender for high ranking pages. With well designed, keyword rich content pages that are linked together using keywords, search engines are more likely to index your web pages on Page One of their listing. SEO IS A GUIDE, NOT A GIMMICK Think of writing SEO content not as a ploy or a trick to get better rankings. Think of it as it really should be, and that is simply to help the search engines list your web pages in the best possible way. Search engine technology is advancing rapidly too. Shallow repetition of keywords throughout the text will become a thing of the past. Search engines will be looking harder and smarter for relevance and meaning to be woven throughout a site's pages. Why? So they can bring the most accurate and fulfilling web pages back to the searcher. Period. Because without this pinpoint accuracy, advertisers will not reap the benefits of paid advertising. This one trend will motivate webmasters to improve the relevance and resourcefulness of their web content. PEOPLE DEMAND QUALITY People will continue to demand refreshing, informative content which is "who" the content is really and truly for. After all, we only write a web page according to the search engines' demands so people will find it. It will be no coincidence when someone types a search phrase and your website is either absent from view or is indexed highly on the results page. It will also be no coincidence that when someone lands on your web page, they either click away from your highly ranked page because the content is worthless, or they stay with you and engage because the content is important and meaningful to them. Just remember: Don't get "number bound" when you do keyword research. Use common sense in keyword selection. Find the easier words to market, words with a smaller audience. Then let nature take its course to the bigger rankings. It all happens because the content is built to tell a search engine exactly what it wants to know. What is this page about? All the rest is then for people! Copyright 2006 Trish Andrews

Financial Training For Teens Makes Dollars And Sense

According to a new poll, as they get older, a growing number of American teens own credit and debit cards and the way many manage them has some people concerned. For example, among teens ages 13 14, only 5 percent reported owning credit cards. Yet at age 17, the percentage of ownership climbs to just under 10 percent and then doubles again to nearly 20 percent for teens 18 or older. What many find alarming is that 15.7 percent of teens who own credit cards make only the minimum payment due. At that rate, it would take a teen more than nine years to pay off a $1,000 balance on a credit card with an 18 percent annual interest rate. These are some of the key findings of the 2006 Interprise™ Poll on Teens and Personal Finance conducted by JA Worldwide™ (Junior Achievement) and The Allstate Foundation. Experts also point to the fact that the fastest growing group of bankruptcy filers is 25 years of age or younger as a cause for concern and as evidence that there's a need for financial education for teens. The poll results were announced by U. S. Treasury Deputy Assistant Secretary of Financial Education Dan Iannicola Jr. and JA Worldwide President and Chief Executive Officer David S. Chernow. Said Chernow, "Given the skyrocketing bankruptcy rate and the staggering amount of debt being carried by the average American family, the time is now for students to learn critical money management skills. JA Worldwide is proud to join with The Allstate Foundation to help educate our nation's youth in this essential area." Earlier this month, Treasury Secretary John Snow and U. S. Treasurer Ana Cabral unveiled the new national financial literacy strategy entitled Taking Ownership of the Future. JA Worldwide is included in the strategy as a key provider of financial education to young people in grades K 12. For complete results of the 2006 Interprise™ Poll on Teens and Personal Finance, visit . ja. org. For a copy of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission's new strategy, visit . mymoney. gov. JA Worldwide is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating young people about business, economics and entrepreneurship. Collectible Currency Represents A By Gone Era

There are three basic groups involved in collectible currency and those are paper money collectors, coin collectors and those who collect both. What they collect may be very different, but their passion is mostly similar. Paper money is collected for a variety of reasons including the possibility of finding collectible currency from every country around the world. Many collectors will spend vast amounts of time researching the history of that country and how that particular type of currency came to be used during that period. Paper money collectors have also learned that allowing their collectible currency to sit in direct sunlight causes it to fade and that Mylar is the best material in which to store their paper. Other plastics made with polyvinylchloride (PVC) may deteriorate over time and take the paper with them. Window envelopes are also bad storage containers for paper money as light enters through the window and can ruin that part of the bill showing. Numerous Coin Collectors Coin collecting has been around a very long time and, as with paper collectible currency, it is saved for a variety of reasons. A collector may want to collect every coin minted by a particular country or have a coin from each year it was minted and from each different mint. The condition of the coin makes a huge difference in its potential value and most collectors look for mint condition coins. Coins from the turn of the century, like their paper counterparts, are considered extremely rare and, as such, extremely valuable. Many have been priced out of the part time collector’s price range. This could partly explain why collectible currency from other countries has become more popular. Most coin collectible currency are kept in individual holds to prevent them from coming in contact with other coins, causing scratches, which would diminish their value. Then there are coin collectors who collect only for their own benefit and aren’t that cautious with their collections. For serious collectors there are computer software programs for cataloging collectible currency and have the ability to enter a brief history of every item included in the collection. A collector can enter the history of the item and how they obtained it as well as information on what makes it collectible. There are numerous books on collectible currency and most are very good at describing each piece and what properties to look for that make it worth collecting. The books also help establish price, but remember, as with most collectibles, what sets the price is what someone else is willing to pay.

The Mentally Fractured World Of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

The main difference, between Western and Japanese animation, some fans believe, is that the Japanese are willing to use even the most dangerous or complicated concepts as central themes. “Welcome to the NHK!” dealt with the social problem the Japanese call hikikomori. “Gunslinger Girl” touched upon the subject of government sponsored assassination squads, as well as the psychological trauma of such operations might cause to the psyche of an orphaned girl of 14. So it is no surprise that a fairly recent show, “Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei,” revolves around a high school teacher and his students, all of whom are in serious need of counseling, antidepressants, and therapy. The show revolves around Nozomu Itoshiki, a high school teacher and member of a rather sizable family. The Japanese characters of his name, when written horizontally (as opposed to the normal Japanese way of writing vertically) can be translated as “despair.” The term is a rather fitting description, because Nozomu displays a number of problems that are related to the word. The first time we actually see him on the screen is on a tree, attempting to commit suicide by hanging. We later on learn that he tends to have one or two things that cause him depression and great despair, though he does not seem to let that interfere with his work. He is also known for carrying a so called “suicide kit” around with him at all times, which is the most visible reminder of his paranoid, pessimistic, personality. It is notable that he does not take any sort of medication, such as antidepressants, to help lift his mood and alleviate the possible mental health issues he has. Nozomu's students are no better off than their teacher. One, Kafuka (derived from Kafka, the writer) is the exact opposite of her teacher. Endlessly optimistic, cheerful, and positive, Kafuka is the character responsible for saving Nozomu at the start of the show. However, her cheerfulness is one that is taken to an extreme form, such as consistently viewing even obviously negative things in often far fetched positive explanations. For example, she justified Nozomu's suicide attempt by hanging as his attempt at growing taller. It is hinted that she firmly believes this, despite the fact that the explanation is clearly ludicrous. Also, there appears to be some hidden violence to her, as one of the other students could only feel blood lust coming off her when making eye contact. Some fans have argued that while Nozomu himself needs antidepressants, Kafuka might require anti psychotics. One of the students, Chiri Kitsu, displays symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder, insisting that everything be done with near mechanical precision. Another, Kaere Kimura, has displayed two distinct personalities: Kaede, a lawsuit happy foreigner, and Kaede, a meek Japanese girl. Kiri Komori is a hikikomori that was convinced to leave the house, though she seems to have just displaced herself from her room and into the school, never leaving the premises. One of the more entertaining cases is that of Matoi Tsunetsuki, who alters her personality each time she finds a man to become the object of her affection, though she typically goes around stalking them. The show itself combines elements of the “slice of life” format and mixes in the eccentricities and oddities of the students, along with their teacher. Bits and pieces of the show also focus on Nozomu's family, who all have names that, when written horizontally as opposed to vertically, translate into an apt description of their personalities and natures.

Compare Term Life Insurance The Only Way To Save Money

Term life insurance shopping is easier than shopping for the equity based permanent plans. It is much easier to compare term life insurance because it is the simplest form of all life insurance policies. Term life insurance consists of a few things that make your shopping relatively easy. Term life insurance means that there is a definite term or period of time that you are insured. The insurance coverage will cease at the end of the term period. The first thing that you must choose is the time period that you need the coverage. A home mortgage policy is the best and easiest example. It is usually a decreasing term policy that declines at approximately the same rate as the home mortgage. It is the perfect policy to protect your home. The amount of insurance and the time period is already in place and that enables you to have a well defined quote comparison. There are some things to consider when comparing term to term. Most of your insurance carriers will be stock companies. They are owned and operated by the stockholders. Their policies have no dividends. Mutual Insurance companies are technically owned by the policyholders and so a dividend is often returned back to the insured. It is better to compare stock companies with stock companies and mutual companies with mutual companies when shopping for term life insurance. The online shopper has a great advantage when comparing term life insurance. It makes it so much easier when they are looking for term Life insurance. The permanent plans have so many variables and options as compared to term life insurance. Make sure that you compare the same face amounts with the same time periods. Term policies are sometimes sold in bands. That means that the rates for higher face amounts may decline per thousand dollars of coverage. You can be aggressive when you know the amount of coverage you need and the length of time you need it. Determine those two needs and then shop until you drop.

The Perfect Gift For A Sports Fanatic

If you know a sports lover than you also know that they absolutely love any gift associated with their favorite team, sport or player. They probably have car flags and bumper stickers all over the car, desk and family room. It may be hard finding something they don’t already have. Looking for the perfect can be just as easy as sitting down to watch the game. Sports Jerseys seem to be very popular and it seems like everyone has one. The only problem is that before the next laundry day, the player has been traded to another team! Yikes! A better gift suggestion is buying a retro jersey or college jersey. With retro and college jerseys, you don’t have to worry about the player being traded, because the point is to acknowledge the player’s past. These jerseys tend to be more expensive, especially the authentic ones, but you can find great deals on the off season of the given sport. Tickets to the game are always appreciated. This is one of those gifts that no matter how many times it has been given, it never gets old. Why? Same tickets, different games! Experiencing the sport up close and personal can be a blast! For the younger sports fans, hats, hats and more hats seem to be the trend. The catch is, knowing their hat size. Today’s hat style is all about fitted caps. Other things to look out for when purchasing a fitted cap are the teams and colors on the hat. Buying a hat to match a jersey they already own, will make you a very cool gift giver. If that is too much work, try getting a gift certificate to a hat store. They are in every mall across America. Sports Gift Baskets don’t seem like a “manly gift” but you’d be surprised at the response they receive. You can get a sports basket to match the team or colors. Sports gift baskets can contain all sports paraphernalia or can have a mixture of sports caps, towels and game time snacks. Either way they are sure to please. Last but not least, autographed sports memorabilia are perfect for the sports fanatic. With all the auction websites nowadays you are sure to find something great. There is a catch however. Be sure to buy from a reliable source to insure authenticity of autographed items. If it seems too good to be true it probably is. Great items to get or buy autographed are balls, photos, trading cards or jerseys. It is also a good idea to get is framed, or incased to protect is from damage. If you can, try and get the value of this great collectible. What makes these gift suggestions so great is that whether the sports fan already has any of these gifts, they won’t be disappointed to get another again.

Measuring Identity Theft Risks With Identity Theft Metrics

An everyday scenario: A man on a business trip stops at an Airport ATM and takes out $100.00 before catching his connecting flight. When he arrives at his hotel to check in not just one but all of his credit cards are declined. He has just become one of millions of victims of Identity Theft. One of the problems in combating this increasingly common crime is that there is a very good chance that this theft will never be reported. The business man will call the the credit card company who will realize that he and they have been a victim of "skimming" which is where thieves insert a device into an ATM designed to steal personal information. They will cancel the man's credit cards, courier replacement cards to him and write off the losses as the cost of doing business. They will want to keep the matter as confidential as possible both to protect the man's interest and to protect their own reputation. Everyone knows the importance of doing the basic things to protect against Identity Theft. Cover your hands when entering PIN numbers. Change your passwords frequently and don't use obvious ones. Don't write your passwords down where they can be discovered. Use different passwords for different applications etc. But further steps can be taken too. Devising a comprehensive empirically accurate means of measuring the extent of Identity Theft so that countermeasures can be developed is as important for individuals as it is for corporations. In order to do that, it is necessary to measure the extent of Identity Theft Risks. Every individual can develop and "Identity Theft Risk Scorecard." This is a simple risk assessment exercise. Individuals can do a comprehensive inventory of their vulnerabilities. Know how many credit cards you have and what the limits are on them. Check bank statements regularly, not just at the end of the month but also online for unidentified charges. Protect passwords and change them regularly. Keep unused cards in a safe location. Treat ATM cards the same way as credit cards. An individual should also regularly check on his/her credit rating with Equifax or a similar service. Look for unusual activity and address it immediately. Keep Social Security Numbers, Driver's License numbers, Passport numbers and other major identifiers secure and limit dissemination to only necessary parties. Be certain to obtain copies of credit card receipts from restaurants, hotels, gas stations and other retailers and shred any that have a full credit card number on them. By following these and other basic protective practices the individual is actually developing a personal Identity Theft Metrics, a comprehensive accounting of how and where one's Identity information is disseminated. As with corporations this Metrics will have built in KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). Individuals, like corporations, have the ability to monitor, protect against and put in place proactive countermeasures against Identity Theft.
