Certain Laws Of The Science Of Getting Rich

    #1

The Experiment of Self Help Self help and personal improvement books have been gaining momentum for so long. Among all these books, topics on wealth creation and personal finance are the center of all these interest. However, some books just separate themselves from the substance that it presents rather than the form that most self help books possess. The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles is definitely one of these books that hold much substance. From the title, this book contends that there is an exact science in wealth creation which can be compared to the hard sciences today like chemistry in physics. Thus, there is an assumption that there are laws that guides the process of how to get rich and be financially free. This puts the pressure on the reader to follow the methods rather than the rhetoric. In addition, the reader is given the certainty that one can get rich with these laws. Wattles wrote this at a time when the period of enlightenment is slowly turning into a period of modernism. That is why there are many parallel books about getting rich that is anchored on modernism; that is having a sense of certainty in achieving wealth if one focuses on a purpose and do everything to achieve it completely. In those times, people start working hard through failure to get things right. While today’s getting rich books talk about leveraging, The Science of Getting Rich is a treatise of creativity. Bridging the Art and Science of Making Money While this claims certainty, it is also much a philosophical book in its time. Wattles talks about the value of having a unified theory, which is a Hindu philosophy slowly entering the Western mind. The theses on wealth creation now lie where richness takes place in this universal system. Wattles therefore will tell you that everyone has the right to be rich in this system and he lays out the groundwork for people to achieve this right. Wattles define the Science of Getting Rich as the advancement of man and development of life. People should have an affirmative attitude of getting rich as his right. Here, Wattles connect getting monetary wealth with the ability to acquire our basic needs while finding ways to grow individually. Competitiveness VS Creativity Perhaps the main principle of the book is the shift from competitiveness to creativity. This thought, again a highly Eastern thinking, states that people do not have to step on each other’s toes to get rich. Instead, it is our call to create. The will to create allows us to have a vision of what we want to do, a path to where want to go, and the motivation to continue to focus on creating wealth. Getting rich is therefore an exercise of clarity of the big picture and should not be regressed to small battles laid out by competition. Wattles’ book weighs upon the advance of all. In a company, you have to give people more than you can take from him. This allows you and your peers to have the momentum to move forward. Remember, that in order for a business organization to grow, you have to take your people with you. Expansion for your selfish profit will leave you with more fools than smart people. This is an example of living the certain way and abiding under the law of attraction. To attract wealth is to be positive about it. The Science of Getting Rich is a transcendent book with ideas that still applies today. Financial freedom is only possible if you are not guarded by your competition. Instead, your potential is without limit if you seek creativeness. This book pushes you to look forward instead of looking behind to your disappointing past or sideward to your grueling competitors. This change of perspective is what all people need today in a highly competitive world.

    Art Auctions Art Deco

    #1

Art Auctions: Art Deco In the field of modern art, art deco plays a large and impressively lavish role. The strong colors and sweeping curves lend art deco the trademark boldness that expressed much of the progress and modern advances of the twentieth century. Art auctions around the world still move many art deco pieces of various kinds. If you’re interested in collecting art deco, there are many art auctions both online and off that deal primarily in art deco. In the twentieth century the decorative arts converged in what is known as the art deco movement, which grew to influence architecture, fashion, the visual arts as well as design. The term ‘art deco’ was derived from a World’s Fair held in Paris, France, called the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes in the year 1925. Though the movement and term comes from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes, the term was not widely used until the late 1960s. Especially pre World War I Europe influenced the art deco movement, though many cultures influenced and were influenced by this art movement. Much of the world was experiencing similar shifts in modern technological advances. For the most part, the art deco movement was brought about and inspired by the rapid advances of technological and social facets of the early twentieth century. As culture responded to these increasingly changing times, the art deco movement was an outgrowth of these modern phenomena. Art deco is considered generally to be an eclectic type of decorative modernism that was influenced by a variety of artists and particular art forms. Art deco includes furniture, metalwork, clocks, glasswork and screens as well as paintings and other fine art types of pieces. The art deco style is known for its lavishness and epicurean flairs that are attributed to the austerity of culture brought about by World War I. Strong patterns and bold colors and shapes were used, as were many particular motifs used universally. For example, the sunburst motif was used in everything from the Radio City Music Hall auditorium, images of ladies’ shoes, the spire of the Chrysler Building and several other pieces of art, architecture and design. Other ubiquitous motifs found in art deco were stepped forms, the zigzag, chevron patterns and sweeping curves. In the West, art deco lost its steam around the Second World War, but continued to be used all the way into the 1960s in colonial countries such as India, where it served as a gateway to Modernism. Then in the 1980s art deco made a comeback in graphic design. Art deco’s association with 1930s film noir led to its use in both fashion and jewelry ads. Today art deco is revered by many and dismissed as old news and overly gaudy by others. Though it undoubtedly played a major role in art history, as with most art, individual taste frames the individual’s interpretation and like or dislike of art deco styles. Art deco is one of the most well known art movements. This is mostly due to its wide base of influences and influenced art forms and cultures. Since much of the world was experiencing many of the same advances in technology and mass production, many of the same ideas and symbols were relevant in various parts of the world. PPPPP 550

    Safety In Barcelona

    #1

When you think of Barcelona, what usually springs to mind? The wonderful Catalonian port located between the mountains and the sea? The beautiful city of modernism and design soaked in warm sunshine and carefree lifestyle? The wine, beer & cava fuelled cosmopolitan city of tapas & fiestas? Well yes, this is indeed Barcelona. However, regardless of this idealistic vision, visitors are nowadays more and more aware of a growing problem which nobody should ignore as it really is affecting the Catalonian capital city's reputation. We are talking about urban security in Barcelona. This terrible problem has become an issue of public concern and it is mainly affecting tourist spots. Pickpockets and thieves are becoming more experienced by the day and people are often getting mugged for their mobile phones or getting their bags snatched. Many are being robbed within minutes of arriving at Barcelona's airports, bus or train stations. Some good news is that local authorities are conscious about this problem and are taking the necessary measures to re establish confidence amongst Barcelona locals and tourists. However, even though something is being done to stop this obstruction to people's basic right of a peaceful stroll, there are some important measures you should follow in order to avoid becoming a victim and wasting precious time spending hours filing a complaint at one of Barcelona's police stations. Much better to spend your time exploring and of course enjoying it! In order to avoid becoming a victim, here are some useful tips: Do not carry large amounts of money when you leaving your apartment or hotel. Don't let anyone invade your personal space while walking down the streets (whether they seem suspicious or not). Wear your bag diagonally across your chest and avoid wearing it on your shoulder. If possible, keep a hand on it at all times. If you must have a backpack, wear it on the front and not on the back as it should normally be worn. Even though it is important that you have a valid ID such as a passport with you, in case you decide to go shopping and you need to pay with your credit card, it is not recommend that you carry your passport with you. Take a photocopy of it and keep it somewhere safe in your bag. If you still want to take your passport or other ID documents with you, remember to photocopy them and leave the photocopy in your apartment or hotel. Carry your wallets and purses in your front pockets and never the back pockets. You will be surprised at just how easy it is to take a wallet or purse from a back pocket and before you realise, then perpetrator will be long gone. Whenever you leave a bus, metro or taxi cab, please remember to take all your belongings with you. If you are carrying a laptop, always keep it close to you and never leave your luggage or any other valuables unattended. It cannot be stressed enough that even in the busiest, safest looking places (bars and restaurants included), you are a potential target, so be aware at all times. Remember, thieves are so experienced that it takes them seconds to act without anybody noticing. Never rely on a single way of payment. Try to use a combination of cash, traveller cheques and credit cards to pay during your trip. The safest way to travel is by carrying travellers cheques. In case you didn't know this you are insured in case they are stolen. These are important aspects to remember nowadays while travelling but not only in Barcelona, but everywhere. Tourists are easy targets, so be careful. Whilst it is important to remember all this, please do not get paranoid. Just be sensible no need to take the latest digital SLR camera down the small backstreets, or carry 2000 euros in cash in a wallet hanging out of your back pocket. Just remember that thieves look for easy targets, so just think a little and make sure you're not one of them. Then you can go out and truly enjoy this magnificent city of modernism, mountain, sea, great weather, sunshine, tapas and cava. Barcelona never sleeps make sure you do, peacefully!

Using Art Prints With A Minimalist Home Decor

    #1

Most decorators traditionally recommend a minimalist dйcor for many spaces, particularly small spaces such as apartments and guest houses. Unfortunately, many people believe that this means that the walls should be kept completely bare for a minimalist dйcor to work. Aren't pictures too flashy for a minimalist dйcor? Art Prints: Perfect Complement to a Minimalist Decor In a word: no, pictures are not too flashy to use with a minimalist dйcor. In a few more words: art prints are not too flashy for a minimalist dйcor, as long as you select your prints carefully. In fact, in rooms with minimalist decor, art prints add character and highlight the fact that the decor really is minimalist and not just neglected. The trick with choosing art prints carefully is just to pick one print, or pick a few prints on a highly related subject or in a similar style, preferably all by the same artist. In a room with minimalist dйcor, the prints will easily get more attention than anything else in the room, so you want to be careful that the prints do not conflict with each other. An obvious example: if you really like Monet's paintings of water lilies, you could get several prints each of a different Monet painting of water lilies. There is a special concern if your dйcor is not just minimalist but strikingly modernist (for instance, lots of simple furniture with clear angles or curves rather than carved woodwork). In a room with a particularly modernist dйcor, prints that are from an earlier era might seem out of place. Go with prints that were created more or less in the era in which your furniture was designed, or in which your furniture's design was most popular. Obviously, there is a lot of room for personal judgment as to what goes with what, since modernist anything always was designed not to look as though it belonged to a particular period of time. It can be even more confusing if your modernist looking furniture was really just designed to look spare in a general way rather than to hark to a particular school of design. In those cases, just try to go for something that looks like it matches, sticking to prints of artworks that are modern but that are not immediately recognizable as belonging to a specific decade. If your furniture leans toward the 1950s and 60s style of modernism (the kind of playful curves that would be at home in a room with a sunburst clock on the wall), try prints of the work of a period artist such as Jackson Pollack. If your dйcor's modernism leans toward the seventies or eighties (e. g., glass topped coffee tables and very spare design, you might be better off with Jasper Johns than Jackson Pollack. Choosing Art Prints for Rooms with Multiple Colors * Minimal does not necessarily mean subdued. Just look at the vibrant paintings of modern artist Mondrian, such as "Broadway Boogie Woogie", composed entirely of interlocking rectangles, square, triangles, and circles. If you'd like to keep your dйcor simple even with a striking color scheme, art prints can actually help. Here's why: * Art prints pull together disparate colors in a room. A print gallery or website will be able to recommend the best art print based on the colors in your room. Some sites even have search engines that match a room's color scheme with appropriate art prints. * When the furnishings in a room attract attention art prints make sure the walls provide visual interest, too, so the eye is not pulled relentlessly downward toward the furniture or rugs. Of course, you have to be careful not to give people a headache. As a rule of thumb, the more riotous the play of colors on the ground, the more orderly the play of colors on the walls should be. If the vibrant colors of your furnishings tend to swirl together, lend the room calm with artwork that takes those colors and presents them in neat lines and blocks. * Art prints make it clear that your colorful dйcor is a well rhymed composition, not just a loud burst of color. Visitors to your pad who see a blue couch, red end tables, and yellow lamps might well wonder what you were thinking until they see a print of "Broadway Boogie Woogie," or other artwork that shows how these disparate colors really do belong together. * In the end, there is beauty in the simplicity of a room with a minimalist interior design, and there is beauty in the art that takes the same simple approach. If you keep that fact in mind when choosing artwork for your minimalist room, you can make sure your dйcor is more than minimally beautiful.

    Boardroom Tables 04

    #1

I started out working as a bean counter in a major regional corporation, and as a result, I was not very respectful of the need for boardroom tables. They could have been working on kitchen tables for all I cared. Buying a big conference table seemed like a galactic waste of money. These conference tables cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, and all they do is sit there and take up room. Instead of using more space efficient and energy efficient ways to arrange the office, business directors will dedicate a whole room to conferences that almost never happens.

Most of the time, the room since there empty, sucking up lighting and heating just to house its overpriced boardroom table. Although I was a bean counter, I was also a pretty competent businessman. This allowed me to advance up the ranks, and now I am one of the bosses.

As you can imagine, my thinking on boardroom tables has changed a lot since those days. Back then, I was pretty concrete about things.

I believed that the most important thing was to get the best usage of the space possible. I didn't think about things like ambiance and setting the right professional mood. I figured that, if you can get the same amount done in less space and with less expense, it is a better solution. Boardroom tables, however, are important.

I did not see that at the time, but now I do. After all, the boardroom table is where the chief officers of the company meet to make the most important decisions. It should be substantial and elegant, yet serious and severe.

It should only be used for important occasions, and the rest of the time it should sit vacant in that room, waiting for another situation of sufficient gravity. Nowadays, I have to justify the expense for new boardroom tables to my own bean counters. I suppose it is one of the ways life gets revenge on you. I wanted to buy a new heavy oak table. The old one was somewhat chipped, and the styling was a very ugly 70s modernism that didn't fit anymore.

To be honest, I was a little bit embarrassed when visiting executives from partnered companies would come to our meetings. Technically, it was an appropriate table, but it certainly wasn't stylish. But try explaining the need to spend several thousand dollars on style to a bean counter!

Photographing The Work Of Antonio Gaudi

    #1

It’s great to have souvenirs to remember places in which you travel, and traveling to Barcelona is no different. It’s a good idea to have your camera ready and not be inhibited to be snap shot happy while your there. A great way to remember you trip is to make an album, this way your memories will be at your fingertips. A great way to organize your trip so that you can keep better track of it all in your photo is to get yourself a good complete map that will be specific about all of the museums, galleries of art, neighboring cities, as well as parks within the region so that you can plan ahead and directly visit each place this way wasting no time while you’re there trying to figure out what you’re going to do. One thing to think about is the weather, and in Spain this could mean extreme heat or even a tad bit of rain that could put a damper on the day. Therefore saving museums and galleries for these days, which will allow you to get the best pictures outdoors on the nice days is a great idea and will give you the best pictures for memories as well. Architecture in Barcelona is a site in itself, and with the works of Gaudi throughout the city, such as the Sagrada Familia, you’ll be able to catch on film one of the most beautiful sites of architecture that you’ll ever behold. Nearly equally impressive is Gaudi’s La Pedrera where new architecture materials of the time such as iron and glass make for a modern feel which will surely take your breath away as you admire the building. It may be just a sad fact that you’re not a great photographer, and well hopefully you know it and are able to admit it. If this is the case then you’ll want to stop at some of the postcard stands that you’ll see along the way on your trip through Barcelona and pick out a couple of good ones that will go nicely in your memory album. In taking photos on your own, you’ll notice that much of Gaudi’s work is brighter in color therefore you’ll want to capture this by being prepared with the correct film or having a sufficient amount of pixels on your digital camera. If you just can’t seem to get enough of Gaudi’s work and you would like to see more then you’ll be doing yourself a favor by visiting Guell Park. This is a great starting point that will let you greet the integration of modernism in architecture of Barcelona. Within this park you’ll see the great sculptures of Gaudi scattered about letting you capture the essence of which this artistic genius worked. You’ll not want to leave Barcelona without first visiting the Coast and the beautiful beaches where you can find beachfront hotels in towns such as Sitges as well as others. You’ll surely get some memorable pictures from this area where you’ll be able to snap shots from rocky cliffs looking over the ocean as you find yourself in the middle of a medieval setting.

    Finding Affordable Flats In Berlin

    #1

The flats Berlin has to offer are your best bet for sticking to your budget in a city where the U. S dollar is no longer king among currencies. Berlin is a fascinating city. Since the fall of communism in the former East Germany, the city has once again become the center of the German Republic. It is recognized as one of the most interesting metropolis in Europe, perhaps even the world. Additionally, is not only a symbol of the reunification, it is also a mecca for nightowls and a melting pot for great architecture, culture, and modernism. So, when in a city as deeply entrenched in history as Berlin, stretch the value of your dollar by staying in an apartment instead of a hotel. Finding an apartment is not a problem. The flats Berlin offers range from the dirt cheap to the reasonably priced. Among the types of flats Berlin ads frequently advertise is the WG Zimmer. WG stands for Wohngemainschaft. In this flat type, a group of people share one apartment, which comes with a kitchen, a bathroom, and occasionally, a living room. Within the WG, each flatmate gets a room. Only the kitchen and the bathroom are communal. Other flats Berlin visitors could avail of range from one room studios to the more elaborate and pricey apartments. There are two important things to pay attention to when looking for an apartment. Often, tourists are confused by the term, "One Room." One Room flats, Berlin style, consist of one room plus a kitchen and a bathroom. Most Westerners assume “One Room" means one bedroom and a living room. As explained earlier, such is not the case. The second thing you have to remember is that majority of the flats Berlin landlords offer come unfurnished. This could pose a big problem for people who decide to stay in the city at the spur of the moment, or are staying for a short time only. If either of the two is true of you, then the best recourse open to you is to go through an agency. You'll have to shell out more bucks, naturally, but you will be able to enjoy fully furnished flats. Another alternative is to look for a place to room sit. There are many flats Berlin students leave empty because they have to go home or travel somewhere. You can find many flats like these. All you have to do is look for magazine and newspaper sections marked "Auf Zeit." Or, you could visit Holiday4You and check out their listing. The prices of flats Berlin landlords put on the market vary. A room within a WG located in central Berlin can fetch somewhere between 150 and 250 Euros a month. A flat, on the other hand, will cost you between 300 and 400 Euros a month. Often, it's possible to get your landlord to lower the rent. However, you should carefully note what you are haggling over. Check what the price includes. Sometimes, a student may have extras, such as a washing machine or a refrigerator. Check if your rent already includes use of these appliances. As with all business transactions, one can never be too careful.

    The Psychology Behind Gardening

The Psychology Behind Gardening I don’t know what it is about a garden that has always drawn humans to them. But they’ve always been very popular, and an integral part of peoples’ lifestyles. Most religions feature gardens as the settings for some of the biggest events According to Christianity, humanity was started in a garden and the son of God was resurrected in a garden. The Buddhist build gardens to allow nature to permeate their surroundings. Almost every major palace and government building has a garden. But what’s so great about them? They’re just a bunch of plants, after all. Of course, the reasoning is fairly obvious behind why people grow food in gardens. It’s to eat! If you live off the fat of the land and actually survive on stuff from your garden, it’s easy to understand the reasoning. But I’m thinking about those people who plant flower gardens just for the sake of looking nice. There’s no immediate benefit that I can see; you just have a bunch of flowers in your yard! However, after thinking extensively about the motivation behind planting decorative gardens, I’ve conceived several possible theories. I think one of the reasons people love gardens so much is that while we have a natural desire to progress and industrialize, deep within all of us is a primal love for nature. While this desire might not be as strong as the desire for modernism, it is still strong enough to compel us to create gardens, small outlets of nature, in the midst of all our hustle and bustle. Since being in nature is like regressing to an earlier stage of humanity, we too can regress to a time of comfort and utter happiness. This is why gardens are so relaxing and calming to be in. This is why gardens are a good place to meditate and do tai chi exercises. A garden is a way to quickly escape from the busy world. I’ve thought at times that perhaps we as humans feel a sort of guilt driving us to restore nature and care for it. This guilt could stem from the knowledge that we, not personally but as a race, have destroyed so much of nature to get where we are today. It’s the least we can do to build a small garden in remembrance of all the trees we kill every day. It’s my theory that this is the underlying reason for most people to take up gardening as a hobby. Gardening is definitely a healthy habit though, don’t get me wrong. Any hobby that provides physical exercise, helps the environment, and improves your diet can’t be a negative thing. So no matter what the underlying psychological cause for gardening is, I think that everyone should continue to do so. In the USA especially, which is dealing with obesity and pollution as its two major problems, I think gardening can only serve to improve the state of the world. Of course I’m no psychologist; I’m just a curious gardener. I often stay up for hours wondering what makes me garden. What is it that makes me go outside for a few hours every day with my gardening tools, and facilitate the small time growth of plants that would grow naturally on their own? I may never know, but in this case ignorance truly is bliss. PPPPP (Word Count 555)
