    A Brief History Of Quilting

    #1

: The art of quilting is not something new to this world, it has been around for centuries, but still there is no confirmation about the exact origin. According to the historians is that the history of quilting, piecing and applique was widely used for clothing and decorating stuff at home in ancient times. There is a common belief that quilting originated in China and Egypt at the same time. The oldest quilted garment found till now dates back to somewhere around 3400 BC. Back in the 11th century, the crusaders picked up a type of quilting from the Middle East and brought it back to Europe. During that time, quilted piece of cloth was used by the Knights to give them extra cushion under their armor. The Romans were the pioneers in introducing quilted bedding, which was used as mattress. Europeans got hold with this idea and they stuffed sack between two combined mattress. It was in the 15th century when the Europeans found quilting as a necessity when they were troubled by cold winds in the winter season. The very first quilts were made of few layers of cloth that was attached together with running stitches. Quilt Frames came into existence as it was difficult to stitch many layers of cloth together. Europeans, blessed with these frames started to create quilts that were more decorative, more finely stitched. 19th century marked a great period of quilting in Europe and America. People in villages would come together and make one or more quilts in an afternoon. Women were very pleased with this as they could come out of the boundaries of their home and could contribute in doing something useful. Benefits Of Video Email

    #1

Although video email has yet to take off on a worldwide basis, it is safe to say that this day is coming. After all, everybody loves to use videos when they can. Don’t you agree that sending a video email could offer many benefits over simple words? The fact of the matter is that while video email is not hot with everybody right now, once it starts to spread it will catch on big time. All in all, there are too many benefits for video email to lag behind for much longer. So what are the benefits of video email, you may ask? Here are three that you will definitely come in contact with the second that you begin to use video email on a regular basis. 1. When you send video emails the recipient is going to have a much easier time understanding you. After all, a video email is just like sitting across the table from somebody. While they cannot respond to you in real time, guess what? They can simply make another video of their own and email it back to you. 2. For many people, typing emails is not always fun. In fact, for those people who do not like to write or type it can be downright annoying. This is where video email can really pick up the slack. Instead of having to write each email out and then proofread it, you can instead say what you want and then send a video with one click of the mouse. This is a great benefit no matter who you are. The convenience factor is definitely something that you should take into consideration. 3. Getting started with video email is not as hard as you may think. The main reason that many people do not use video email is because they think it is too far advanced for them to figure out. But when it comes down to it this is not the truth. To get started with video email you need two things. First off, you need an email account. Luckily, you can register one of these for free. Additionally, you need to buy a webcam. This will allow you to shoot your video emails, and in turn send them directly from your pc. It is very easy to use a webcam, and once you send a couple videos you will be surprised at just how much you learn. All in all, the benefits of video email are well varied. The three above are the ones you are sure to encounter early on, but as you send more and more video emails you will become aware of many other benefits. This way of communicating is definitely the wave of the future. Copyright Paul Majestyck

History And Health Benefits Of Echinacea

    #1

Echinacea, the purple coneflower, is the best known and researched herb for stimulating the immune system. Thousands of Europeans and Americans use echinacea preparations against colds and flu, minor infections, and a host of other major and minor ailments. This native American herb has an impressive record of laboratory and clinical research. Thousands of doctors currently use echinacea for treating infectious diseases. History Echinacea has a rich tradition of use by North American Plains Indians who used it medicinally more than any other plant. It was prominent in modern American medicine in the early 20th Century, and was discovered by Europeans, who have used it extensively since the 1930s. Today millions of Europeans use echinacea as their primary therapy for colds, flus, infections, and for general immune boosting effects. Health Benefits of Echinacea Echinacea increases the "non specific" activity of the immune system. In other words, unlike a vaccine which is active only against a specific disease, echinacea stimulates the overall activity of the cells responsible for fighting all kinds of infection. Unlike antibiotics, which are directly lethal to bacteria, echinacea makes our own immune cells more efficient in attacking bacteria, viruses and abnormal cells, including cancer cells. Echinacea facilitates wound healing, lessens symptoms of and speeds recovery from viruses. Anti inflammatory effects make it useful externally against inflammatory skin conditions including psoriasis and eczema. It may also increase resistance to candida, bronchitis, herpes, and other infectious conditions. Benefits • Colds, coughs and flu and other upper respiratory conditions • Enlarged lymph glands, sore throat • Urinary tract infections • Other minor infections • May help combat herpes and candida • Wounds, skin regeneration and skin infections (external use) • Psoriasis, eczema and inflammatory skin conditions (external use)

Making A Youtube Video Pieces You Should Try

    #1

Making a YouTube Video: Pieces You Should Try Do you enjoy watching videos on YouTube? If you do, have you ever thought about making your own YouTube videos? While making a YouTube video may seem like a complicated process, it actually isn’t one. YouTube makes it so easy for you to upload your videos that the hardest part isn’t actually uploading them, but making them. When it comes to making a YouTube video, one of the biggest problems a person has, especially a first time YouTube video maker, is deciding what type of video they should make. Of course, you have the option to make whichever type of video you want, within YouTube’s guidelines of course, but there are a few video pieces that you may want to closely examine, as they are great for beginners. One of the most popular video types currently found on YouTube are video blogs. Video blogs seem as if they are taking over traditional, printed blogs. Instead of venting about their day in print, many bloggers are now getting in front of the camera. Video blogs are easy to make, as you pretty much just summarize what is going on in your life. Of course, you need to keep safety in mind, when making a YouTube video blog. If you want to outline your day, week, or month for other internet users to see, you will want to do so without giving up too much information about yourself, like your full name, address, or phone numbers. Another one of the most popular video types currently found on YouTube are comedy videos. Comedy videos tend to include standup comedy, skits, as well as comedy sketches. If you have aspirations to be a comedian or even if you and your friends just like being funny, you may have the makings of a great YouTube video. Of course, if you are making a comedy video that involves other people, like your friends, you need to make sure that they know that you are planning on uploading the video to YouTube, for the entire world to see. If you would like to create a more serious YouTube video, one that may be used for informational purposes only, you may want to think about creating a how to video or a do it yourself (DIY) video. These types of videos are great for first time YouTube video submitters. If you are interested in creating a how to video, you will want to make a video on something that you enjoy or one of your hobbies. For instance, if you like making your own candles, you may want to think about making a YouTube video or multiple video segments on how to do so. If you enjoy playing video games, you may also want to make a YouTube video about them. As it was previously mentioned, there are a large number of first time YouTube video submitters who prefer making videos about something that they know or love. If you have an old video game or even just a traditional, vintage board game, you may want to make a YouTube video on it. Your video could include information on the history of the game or even tips on how to play it, and so on. As you can, there are an unlimited number of video pieces that you can create for yourself and a large number of them are perfect for your first YouTube video. If you are looking for more information on popular YouTube videos, you are urged to examine the YouTube site. You can easily examine a video’s popularity by looking at its ratings or by seeing how much it is being discussed. Examining currently posted YouTube videos is a great way to give you ideas. It is also likely to up your chances of making a YouTube video that will be popular; one that will be watched or one that will be talked about. The decision as to what YouTube video you want to post as your first one is yours to make, but you may want to think about starting out small. After you have tested the waters, you can move onto bigger and better YouTube videos, should you wish to do so. PPPPP Word Count 697

Instead of focusing on the true definition of being able to record streaming video, these people simply focus on what they think the meaning is. If you think that streaming video is just over the internet, you are wrong. If you think that streaming is a medium, you are also wrong. A Historical Insight Into Contact Lenses

    #1

The origin of contact lens could be traced back to sixteenth century. A good number of inventors or scientists have contributed to the evolution and modification of the concept behind contact lenses. So no single person could be adjudged as the sole inventor of contact lenses. However credit for the modern form of contact lens is usually attributed to F. E.Muller. F. E.Muller's version came up in 1887. The other one who is also considered as one of pivotal contributor to the evolution of contact lenses is Rene Descrates. Descrates invented corneal contact lens. Another British scientist Jhon Herschel's contribution is widely acknowledged. Second half of nineteenth century witnessed a new herald in the history of contact lenses with lots of inventions and innovations. That was the period in which mainstream of society got aware of the lenses that could be directly placed on cornea or sclera. However this awareness was limited to only niche. Eugen Fick's Scleral contact shells in late nineteenth century became an instant hit among niche. This lens was later on modified by August Miller. With the advent of plastic scleral lenses contact lens history took a new turn and researches were diverted towards lot of sophisticated substitutes of glass contacts. William Feinbloom is considered as pioneer of plastic contact lenses. One more scientist of that period Joseph Dallos earned accolade for his contribution. George Butterfield earned recognition for improved corneal lens. This is the way contact lenses underwent the modifications. More sophisticated and comfy lenses came on the block once Silicone hydrogel was introduced. These are common historical facts available on contact lenses. This ever growing contact lens history suggests that people were actually in need of a better contact lens. Some historians of contact lenses suggest that it was Leonardo Da Vinci who first toyed with the idea of contact lenses. Even now innovations haven't stopped and new models of contact lenses keep coming up. Colored contact lenses have given a different turn to the history of contact lens. With advent of colored contacts, contact lens usage is not confined to only vision correction instead it could be used for fashion and fun purposes as well. How To Use Streaming Video

    #1

How to use Streaming Video Using a streaming video is often much easier than downloading the video to one’s hard drive. There are a number of different reasons for this. It is especially true of individuals that are new to learning about computers and those who may not be especially familiar with how a computer works or the different components of a computer. When considering how to use streaming video, it is much less complicated than the use of downloading videos. If a person does not remember where they saved a video, it can be very difficult to find it later. There are many times that the computer will pick a place for the video, and if the individual does not change the save location, they may be confused later as to where the video file went. Compared to this, how to use streaming video is much more appealing. There is no where to save the streaming video, so the individual who is watching it does not have to locate it later. Streaming means that the material is always coming forth from the source. When it comes to streaming video, and how to use streaming video, the individual merely needs to go to the web site location of the streaming video. From there, they will be able to click play on the streaming video player that is being used. The file will then begin to play for the individual. The individual will be able to pause and rewind the file just like when playing a downloaded video. Also, since the file is already on the web site and always being streamed from the source, it takes less time to begin watching the video in most cases, since the downloading process of a video can take a long time. This way, streaming video can save the individual time and energy. Once the video has been played, it can be played again and it will still not take up any more time than is necessary to connect with the host that is streaming the file. In order to use streaming video, the individual does need to be connected to the internet the whole time, since this is where the file is coming from. This is another difference between downloading a video clip and playing a streaming video clip. If an individual is watching a downloaded video, the person does not need to stay connected to the internet after the file is downloaded. They will need to be connected when the file is downloaded, but after that process is complete, whether they are connected to the internet or not, their file will still be able to be played. These are the very simple ways in which individuals can learn how to use streaming video clips for both personal and professional reasons, as well as being able to highlight the differences between streaming video and downloaded video clips, and what each of these can do for the individual that wants to play a video clip of any source on a media or video player.

Email Marketing For Your Viewing Pleasure

    #1

Email marketing comes in a variety of flavors. Some are sent in plain text, others are html enriched that allow text, graphics and background. There are even some email marketing campaigns that provide an abbreviated email edition with a full version on their business website. Of course business owners provide ample links throughout their email to give the recipient as many opportunities as possible to drop by. One of the more recent innovations in email marketing is video email. When I reviewed several video email sites I was impressed with a company called Talk Fusion. The video emails sent through the system do not require buffering and the voice and video match. In many ways it was just like watching TV. The instant startup of the video message was impressive. My mind kept conjuring up a variety of marketing uses for video email. For instance, if you have a brick and mortar store with an online presence you may use a video email message to congratulate a customer on a promotion, anniversary or birthday. Of course they get to see you personally deliver the video message, but your contact information is placed in the video email as well. For a one on one connection this type of email seems a better solution than more common ecards. If your product is exclusive to an online community you can use video to demonstrate your product or provide a very personal touch in presenting the finer points of your product line. The use of video email is likely to draw attention. One of the reasons I believe this to be true is that many email marketing campaigns are subject to intense skimming. The email recipient is perusing your email in an effort to see if it is worthwhile. With a video they may be more willing to simply view what you have to say without interruption. That would certainly hold the potential for a greater conversion rate. In most cases it would be advisable to script your video email ahead of time and make sure it is clear and compact in presentation. Your customers value their time and if you ramble they are more likely to cut the viewing short. It would even be possible with video email to take a short video streaming idea that may be new to your site and send a portion of it as a video email encouraging recipients to visit your website to view the entire stream. If you are looking for a fresh idea for your email marketing campaign the potential for video email might just be enough to encourage you to give it a good look.

    Hosting Considerations For Online Video

    #1

Many webmasters (you may be one of them) have probably considered using video on their web site for promotional purposes. Video is an excellent way to command attention from your viewing audience. However, the two largest concerns with video are file size and bandwidth. File Size Video is the largest of all currently deployed files on the web due to the fact it has audio and moving video. If you plan to host video on your own web site, it is important to know how much free space is available for your web hosting account due to the fact you can run out of space very quickly with video. A general rule of thumb is that a medium quality video will consume one megabyte per one minute of video. For example, a five minute video would be 5MB in size on average. Bandwidth Because video has a very large file size, it also consumes a lot of bandwidth. Every time someone downloads or streams a video from your web site, an excessive amount of bandwidth is used. Again, you should check your web hosting account to see how much bandwidth you have available. For example, let’s say you have a web hosting account that allows five gigabytes (5GB) of data transfer per month. You have one five minute video available for download on your web site that is 5MB in size. Without anyone downloading anything else, your video could be downloaded 1,000 times. However, in combination with your web pages and images, that number will decrease significantly. Also, if you have additional videos for download, the number is even less. Alternatives to Hosting Video on Your Web Site If hosting your own video consumes too much space and bandwidth, an alternative is to use a video hosting service. There are both free and paid hosting services available. Free services are YouTube and Google Video. For pay services, do a web search for video hosting and plenty of options will present themselves. The advantage to paid hosting is that you can host files yourself without any “branding” that does not belong to you on your video. For free services, branding does exist which may drive traffic away from your web site.

Turning Christmas Tree History Upside Down

    #1

The history of upside down Christmas trees goes as far back as the middle ages, when residents of Europe hung their xmas trees upside down as a representation of the holy trinity. Of course, that is not the most common method of displaying today's Christmas tree, as what it now represents, right side up, is the tip of the tree pointing to heaven. Because of this modern attitude and style, there are those that think an upside down Christmas tree could be a sacrilege or at least a sign of disrespect. Though there is no clear history of upside down Christmas trees we do know some of how it came about. During 600 AD a British monk traveled to Germany to preach the word of God. He spent a lot of time in Thuringia, an area destined to become the home of the first secular xmas decorations. Here the monk, according to upside down Christmas tree history, decided to make the triangular shape a representation of the Holy Trinity made up of God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. The Europeans he converted started to revere the monk's upside down Christmas tree, so history tells us, as the Tree of God. By the 1100's the upside down tree was appearing hanging from nearly every central European ceiling. The first decorated Christmas tree appeared in 1510 in Latvia. A little later in that century history tells us that Martin Luther decorated a Christmas tree with candles as a way of explaining to his children how the stars shone in the night sky. Gaily decorated Christmas trees, not yet upside down, were first documented in Strasbourg Germany in 1601. The decorations were barley sugar twists, wafers and multi colored flowers.

How To Put Video On Your Website The Basics

    #1

Video is an extremely powerful medium. If you use eye catching videos on your website chances are you will capture your website visitor's interest. Moreover, if you put video on your webpages, search engines will love you and will push your website in the top pages of their search results. There are a lot of ways to implement videos on your website. Let's discuss some basic issues in this article. You have two options (from the website visitor's perspective) when you want to put video on your website. Either let the visitor wait for the download of the entire video file and then view it, or use streaming techniques to immediately start playing the video file when the page loads. Streaming video becomes more and more popular every day. Many web designers or webmasters think that the process of creating a video, editing it and uploading it to the website is a pain. The truth is that it does take time to do it, but it's not that complicated. What you should pay attention to, is the bandwidth usage. Videos are real bandwidth eaters. You should also be aware of the various legal problems that may arise if you use video files that don't belong to you. So if you decide to put video on your website you may first think if the value of the video justifies the time you need to spent to prepare the video and implement it on your website. Will the specific video help the website visitors? What technique of video implementation is better for you? For example in a slow internet connection (56 kbps), a 1mb video file will take about 5 minutes to download. Is the value of the video high so that a visitor with a slow internet connection will wait for the file to download? In other words, if you want to put video on your website make sure it's a good one. One that adds real value for your website's visitors and enhances your website's quality.

The Pros And Cons Of Video Blogging 233

    #1

The Pros and Cons of Video Blogging Video blogging has a lot of advantages over text based blogging, and it is little wonder that this new technology is catching on all over the globe. Video blogs very effectively grab the attention of web surfers, and people are much more likely to become excited about the dynamic content of a video blog than they are likely to find a written posting very thrilling. The more enthusiastic viewers are about a site, the quicker the word of mouth spreads, and the more traffic the site will get. Of course, there are plenty of disadvantages to video blogging as well. Hosting a v blog requires quite a bit of server space, which can make it difficult to get started. It takes more time to process and upload a video file than it does to dash off a quick bit of text, which means that running and updating a video blog can be quite a bit of work. In addition, web surfers sometimes grow frustrated with the slow loading times of the files on many video blogs. Whether you opt for a video blog or not depends on what kind of subject matter you want to cover, and how much time you can devote to video blogging. Before you decide to pursue a video blog, consider if there is an easier way for you to get your message across. (Word count 233) PPPPP
