Insurance Tips For Homeowners And Renters

Whether you're a homeowner or renter, insurance provides critical protection. Homeowner's insurance protects your home's physical structure and your personal property. In contrast, renter's insurance only protects your personal property. Everyone homeowners and renters needs liability coverage to provide financial protection in case others are injured on your property or by your actions. You have the option to insure your home and belongings for either their replacement cost or their actual cash value. Actual cash value is the amount it would take to repair your home or replace damaged possessions after factoring in depreciation. Replacement cost is the amount it would take to repair your home with materials of similar kind and quality, or to purchase new possessions without deducting for depreciation. It's a good idea to make an inventory of all of your personal belongings and save receipts for major items, along with a photograph or video of each room. Store copies of the documentation in a safe deposit box or another off site secure location in case your home is destroyed. Following are some helpful considerations provided by The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), a voluntary organization of state insurance regulatory officials: Important Considerations If you have expensive valuables such as jewelry, antiques or art you'll probably want to purchase a "rider" to your policy, as these items are subject to coverage limitations in basic policies. Damage to your home or belongings caused by flooding is NOT typically included in a homeowner's policy. If you live in an area prone to flooding, inquire about flood insurance through the federal government's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Your insurance agent can help you obtain flood insurance. Insurance Tips for Different Life Stages At different stages, you're likely to have different insurance needs. For instance: • Young singles who are sharing an apartment with unrelated roommates each need their own individual renter's policy to protect their own possessions. • Young families that add a swing set or trampoline for their kids should consider additional liability insurance. • Established families that may be remodeling or building an addition should update their homeowner's policy to reflect these enhancements. • Seniors should ask if they are eligible for discounts. And if you've just paid off your mortgage and your homeowner's insurance was previously paid through your mortgage company be sure to assume direct responsibility for the premiums so that your policy doesn't lapse. Remember, before you sign an application for insurance, take a few minutes to stop, call your state insurance department and confirm that the company is legitimate and authorized to sell insurance in your state.

    Being An Emotional Victim

None of us like to think of ourselves as victims. The term "victim" brings to mind a pathetic image of a person who is powerless. Therefore, It comes as a shock to most of us to realize how often we allow ourselves to be emotional victims. Having counseled individuals, couples, families and business partners for 35 years, I know that many of us are victims much of the time without realizing it. We are being victims anytime we give another person the power to define our worth. We are being victims anytime we make approval, sex, things, a substance, or an activity responsible for our feelings of happiness and lovability. We are being victims anytime we blame another for our feelings of fear, anger, hurt, aloneness, jealousy, disappointment, and so on. Whenever we choose to define ourselves externally, we are handing away power to others and we then feel controlled by their choices. When we choose to define ourselves internally through our connection with our spiritual Guidance, we move into personal power and personal responsibility. The moment we sincerely want to learn about our own intrinsic worth and what behavior is in our highest good, and we ask Spirit, we will receive answers. Most people do not realize how easy it is to receive answers from a spiritual Source. The answers will pop into your mind in words or pictures, or you will experience the answers through your feelings, when your sincere desire is to learn. We always have two choices: we can try to find our happiness, peace, safety, security, lovability and worth through people, things, activities, and substances; or we can feel joyful, peaceful, safe, secure, lovable and worthy through connection with a spiritual Source of love and compassion taking loving care of ourselves and loving others. Whenever we choose to find our happiness and safety through others, then we have to try to control them to give us what we want. Then, when they don't come through for us in the way we hoped they would, we feel victimized by their choices. Here is an example: Don and Joyce are in a continual power struggle over how to handle their children. Joyce tends to be authoritarian while Don is fairly permissive. When Joyce gets frustrated with Don's parenting, she generally yells at him about his permissiveness. Don often listens to Joyce rant and rave at him. Sometimes she goes on for over an hour and he just listens. Then, when he tries to talk with her, she refuses to listen. Don then feels victimized, complaining about how Joyce yells at him and refuses to listen to him. When I asked Don in a counseling session with him why he sits and listens to Joyce, he stated that he hoped if he listened to her she would listen to him. I asked if she ever does listen during these conflicts, and he answered "No." "Why do you need her to listen to you?" "I want to explain to her why I did what I did with the children." "Why do you need to explain it to her?" "So she won't be mad at me." Don allows himself to be yelled at by Joyce as his way of trying to control Joyce, hoping to get her to approve of him. Then he tried to explain to further control how she feels about him. When she won’t listen, he feels victimized by her yelling, blaming her for being such an angry, controlling person. If Don were willing to take responsibility for approving of himself through his connection with his Higher Power, he would not listen to Joyce when she was yelling at him. Instead, he would set a limit against being yelled at, stating that he would listen to her only when she spoke to him with respect and only when she was open to learning with him. But as long as she has to approve of him for him to feel secure or worthy, he will not set this limit. Until Don opens to his spiritual Guidance for his security and worth, instead of handing this job to Joyce, he will be a victim of her unloving behavior. Taking responsibility for our own feelings of worth and lovability through developing our spiritual connection, instead of giving that job to others, moves us out of being victims and into personal power.

How To Build Credit For A Better Future

Building credit is building a better future. Nowadays it takes good credit scores to purchase a home, buy a car, and get a credit card and so on. If your credit is bad usually more bad follows. It takes you to find a solution to repair your credit. The fist step in repairing your credit is to take a look at each bill, including your past due bills. Make sure the current bills are paid in full if possible to avoid any more reporting on your credit report. Once you have taken care of your current bills work toward paying off your late bills. Some current bills such as utilities or other unsecured bills can wait longer than others, so you might want to payoff your secured bills first. Secured bills means that you have more to loose so you want to take care of those first before paying off nonessential bills and risking losing your home, car or whatever you are paying on. Most utility companies will wait on a bill if you don’t have the funds. You may be able to get some help paying utilities. The Social Services and some Religious Organizations offer support to low income families. If you have a loan with a bank you might want to contact your lender to see if there are options for reducing your monthly mortgage or car payments. Some banks are waiting for financial burdens to occur and offer a solution, such as refinancing your home or car. You want to be careful since some of the loans have high interest rates attached. Some loans may even have hidden charges attached so it makes sense to read the fine prints thoroughly so that you are not taking advantage of. Remember you are attempting to repair your credit so finding the best deals is important. This brings us to cut backs. When we are striving to repair our credits we want to cut back on spending as much as possible. Sometimes we have to do without in order to better our future. Credit repair is the process of building your credit history and reestablishing your life. This process means that you have to look at all angles to find a solution to repair your credit. When you are searching those angles you need to consider all aspects of what the solutions include. If there are added charges you probably are getting in deeper rather than building a better future and repairing your credit. Debt Counselors, Deb Consolidation, Bankruptcy and other companies that offer credit repair solutions are often the last resort to repairing credit. Even if you think bankruptcy is the answer you must realize you will need a few hundred dollars upfront to start the process. Lawyers are not cheap! On top of the high prices you will have to pay you will also go through court proceedings as well as many other headaches. Therefore if you can find a way out of debt on your own this is the best solution. If you are in over your head and have nothing to loose it might be wise to ignore your debts. This sounds ludicrous but if you can’t get out this sometimes is the only answer to debt relief. If you are on the spot and not so deep in debt you might ask your family or friends for a loan, only enough to pay off your debts. You might have to pay interest, but friends and family will often charge less and give you a longer time frame to repay your debt. The solution is often better than applying for a loan to payoff your debts from a bank. Most lenders at bank are welcoming people that are struggling and take full advantage by finding you a loan with high interest rates. Your monthly installments are often lower, but your price in the end is steep. It makes sense to search all options before deciding which solution for repairing your credit is right for you. Always keep in mind when you are repairing credit that you are working toward a better future.

Uk Mortgage Insurance Is Worthwhile Taking Out

UK mortgage insurance is worthwhile taking out to guard against the possibility that you might find yourself out of work sometime in the future should you have an accident, suffer illness or become involuntarily unemployed. However the cover is not suitable for all circumstances due to the exclusions within the policy. While the exclusions can differ and you should compare them along with the quotes, there are some common ones. Being retired, self employed, suffering an ongoing illness or only being in part time work could mean that you would be ineligible to make a claim against the UK mortgage insurance policy. It is the exclusions which were behind the majority of mis selling when in 2005 the Financial Services Authority began investigating the sector. As a result several well known names on the high street were given fines and then the sector was referred to the Competition Commission by the Office of Fair Trading. While changes for the better have been made, the Competition Commission announced in late 2007 that high street lenders are still charging high premiums for UK mortgage insurance and loan payment insurance, and raking in up to 80% in profits. Along with this one of the latest firms to receive a fine was a mortgage lender. Not only did the company receive a fine but the Financial Services Authority handed out a personal fine to the Chief Executive. The Financial Services Authority say they will continue to crack down on firms who are mis selling mortgage protection and loan protection so more Chief Executives should be prepared to put their hands in their pockets. One of the biggest changes that will go towards making payment protection more transparent for the consumer is the introduction of comparison tables in March 2008; a series of questions will help lead the consumer to choose the right protection policy. Along with this they will highlight the exclusions which can be found in all payment protection policies and make the consumer aware of how much the cover will cost in total. All of these have caused severe problems in the payment protection sector with very little advice being given on policies and what is given being filled with technical jargon which the consumer does not understand. Buying UK mortgage insurance from an independent specialist provider will get you the cheapest premiums and the best advice and access to the key facts. The advice comes in easy to understand plain English, cover can begin to payout from between the 31st and 90th day depending on the provider and would then continue for between 12 and 24 months again depending on providers so you must read the terms and conditions. UK mortgage insurance may be surrounded by controversy but providing it is suitable for your circumstances it can make the difference between losing the roof over your head and keeping it and of course it gives you peace of mind so you are able to recover from illness or find another job if you are made redundant. The State cannot be relied upon to give you the money needed each month to meet your mortgage repayments which has left many facing repossession through not having a back up plan.

Submissive Urination With A Young Dog

I have an eleven month old English Springer Spaniel "Rio". For the past nine months I have been using clicker training, the gentle leader, and various other methods with no success. The trainer who was helping me told me our dog was untrainable, which I didn't believe because she is so smart. I purchased an electronic collar [not necessary, but sure makes training faster and life easier!] and a pinch collar per your advice. Within two days I have a well behaved dog. She walks at my side, she is no longer running wild all over the house and jumping on all the furniture. She is so good, she sits in my lap at night, she no longer jumps on the counters. Thank you again. I still have one problem with Rio. She has submissive urination. She is out growing it. She probably only has an accident every 2 weeks. Usually when I put the leash on her to take her for a walk. Do you have any suggestions how to solve this problem permanently? Maryann and "Rio" Dear Maryann: Excellent! I'm always happy to hear stories like this. Regarding the submissive urination: If you've already confirmed that your dog doesn't have a bladder or urinary tract infection (unlikely) & then all you can really do is ignore the submissive urination. She will grow out of this. It usually happens when a young dog gets excited, and very often, the dog isn't even aware the she is doing it. Which makes it impossible to correct. For now, just try keeping the dog calm until you're outside. She will outgrow this behavior. It really has nothing to do with housebreaking. To read about the book she's referring to, take a look at: dogproblems. com/newvideos. htm That's all for now, folks! Adam

The Soul Of A Coffee Mug

A coffee mug can be different things to different people. It can be large or small and made out of a variety of different materials. Coffee drinkers all around the world use different types of containers to hold their morning or all day long cups of coffee. Manufacturers use different materials to make different kinds of drinking utensils for holding scaling, steaming cups of coffee, and each has a personality of its own. Some people use the same coffee mug year after year, while others get a different one each day. The most common material to make a coffee mug out of is porcelain, followed by stainless steel, like a giant thermos and its top 'mug' cup, or plastic or glass. Porcelain and glass are the most common for household coffee drinkers, but so are 'porta mugs' and insulated mugs that can go wherever you go. Most insulated coffee mugs fit inside special holders in vehicles, or hang on the window with a hook that allows for easy, and quick, access. Since many people don't think they're even human before they've had that first sip of coffee to get them going in the morning, a coffee mug takes on a special sense of importance to some people. Some people like their names engraved on 'their' coffee mug, and nobody better touch it or else. Coffee mugs come in all kinds of shapes and sizes as well, and imagination is the only limitation to design. While porcelain holds the heat in, they can also be difficult to hold because of that heat. They're also very easy to break, and most people don't care to have hot coffee spilled all over them first thing in the morning, or any other time. Plastic coffee mugs are okay for most uses, but they don't hold the heat in very long and coffee gets cold rather fast. A stainless steel mug or thermos mug does the trick in keeping coffee hot, sometimes scaling, but then you still have the same problem hanging onto it without burning your hands. Most coffee mug designs however, are fitted with lids nowadays, and are made of insulated plastic that not only keeps that coffee piping hot, but also allows you to hold it without getting scorched fingers. The coffee stays hot for a very long time, allowing for sipping rather than hurried gulping. This type of mug is the most common these days, as it's easy to take with you whether you're driving, walking, or hurrying to and fro. Most mugs hold at least two regular cups of coffee, or thereabouts, and no less. Gotta make it worth your while, don't you, especially if you're transporting it to work with you. If a person can carry a super sized cola drink, why not a super sized container of hot coffee? Many insulated coffee mug designs can hold up to 24 ounces of hot coffee, offering the coffee drinker hot java all day long. Just remember: a coffee mug by any other name is still a coffee mug.

    Are Pittsburgh Schools In Trouble

Two years ago, in 2005, new Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Mark Roosevelt inherited a troubled school district. In fact, Pittsburgh Schools were placed on the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s district improvement list in 2005, based on results that did not meet requirements on the Pennsylvania System of Schools Assessment (PSSA). When Superintendent Roosevelt took over the Pittsburgh Schools, he needed a plan to improve the school system in order to move Pittsburgh Schools off of the improvement list. At that time, he described and implemented an ambitious plan with objectives not only for moving every student toward proficiency, but also for increasing the number of students who are achieving at the highest levels. “When setting our objectives, we wanted to be realistic yet inspirational. We recognize that we must change the hearts and minds of everyone – kids, parents, teachers, central office staff and the entire Pittsburgh Schools community – so we share in a common belief that every child can achieve excellence,” said Superintendent Roosevelt. To that end, Pittsburgh Schools wrote a new mission statement, which states that “Pittsburgh Schools will be one of America’s premier school districts, student focused, well managed, and innovative. We will hold ourselves accountable for preparing all children to achieve academic excellence and strength of character, so that they have the opportunity to succeed in all aspects of life.” Board Chair of the Pittsburgh Schools Education Committee Thomas Sumpter also noted that, “Raising the achievement level of all students is paramount, and that is what the District must be held accountable for.” Not only are Pittsburgh Schools working towards these goals and beliefs, but they are also offering a generous incentive plan for high school seniors. Hoping to encourage more students to graduate and continue onto college, Pittsburgh Schools and the City of Pittsburgh are issuing what is called "The Pittsburgh Promise." The promise pledges that starting in 2008; all graduates who meet certain standards will have the means of getting post secondary education. The district and the city hope to raise $5 $7 million a year to make college or other post secondary education affordable. To access the money, students will have to attend a city public school, do their work, stay out of trouble, and graduate. So how are Pittsburgh Schools doing so far? At the request of Superintendent Mark Roosevelt, an organization known as RAND completed an analysis of the implementation of major district initiatives so far, and has suggested opportunities to strengthen future implementation. RAND analyzed how each initiative supports Excellence for All, the district’s improvement plan for increasing the academic performance of all students. Findings showed improvements throughout Pittsburgh Schools so far, but more work is needed. “We are firm in our commitment to being a learning organization that seeks to self correct and constantly improve,” said Pittsburgh Schools Superintendent Roosevelt. “We know improvements are needed and have already begun to make significant changes with our partners to address many of the recommendations …presented by RAND.”

    What Makes A Good Boss

According to Rob Sheehan, director of executive education at the James MacGregor Burns Academy of Leadership at the University of Maryland, “Being a good boss is important in any organization, but it’s particularly important for small business. With smaller businesses, you really have the opportunity to set the tone for the entire company.” There are several characteristics, traits, and attitudes that seem to be prevalent among executives that are viewed as “good bosses” by their employees. These include: • Including all levels of employees in decision making • Concentrating on the company’s mission, not just its ability to make money • Demonstrating the value of learning new skills • Encouraging employees to advance their careers • Setting an example of a positive attitude and work ethic Assigning Responsibilities The organization of your small business will be determined by your determination of who should be doing what and when – in other words, assigning tasks and duties to your employees. At the center of any organization are its people and those people have to know what is expected of them in order to perform satisfactorily. Usually a small business will start with a few (maybe even one) person(s) performing all of the day to day functions. However, as the business grows it will be necessary to hire others to perform specific roles within the firm. As a manager, you will be required to recognize when new needs emerge and to hire the appropriate personnel to address those needs. Business Teams You should not be the only one responsible for the success of your small business. The ultimate in organization is the formation of a business team that allows you to delegate authority and, as a result, increase productivity. Your business team should consist of those employees who are in charge of the major functions of your organization. To be effective, a business team must have a leader that is respected by all of the team members. In return, the leader must respect all of the member’s individual abilities. A team spirit should be evident as each member uses his or her strengths to compensate for the weaknesses of others. Mistakes in the workplace should result in correction not retribution. Each member of a team should realize their own importance to the organization and feel free to explore other areas of activity. Communication Tips for Employers A 2001 study analyzing 20,000 exit interviews revealed that the most common reason that people leave a job situation is poor supervision – basically, they had a bad boss. Probably the biggest factor contributing to the perception of poor leadership seemed to be poor communication skills. How can you as an employer improve your communication with your employees? Try out a few of the following suggestions: 1) Listen. Actually pay attention to what your employees are saying. As simple as this sounds, try this exercise; Tape a conversation then after you have finished communicating, try typing as much as you can of what the other person said. When you are finished, play the tape while reading your notes. See how accurate you’re listening and memory is. 2) Designate specific times to meet with your employees one on one at least twice a month. Not allowing interruptions during these meetings will convey to them that they have your undivided attention and that you value their input. 3) When changes are going to have to be made in the workplace, let those affected know as soon as possible. Tell them personally and don’t let them find out through the grapevine. 4) Let your employees know what you stand for. When they are aware of your value system, they will be able to make better decisions, or at least decisions that will be more pleasing to you. 5) Let your employees know how they are doing on a regular basis. Don’t let an employee find out that they are not performing up to your standards at their yearly performance review. 6) Improve your public speaking skills. Your credibility with your employees is directly tied to your ability to convey information to them successfully. 7) Don’t use e mail to do your dirty work. Whenever a situation involves strong emotions, it should be dealt with in person.

How To Choose To Be Happy

Anger, anxiety, guilt, regret and worry are all perfectly normal emotions. They are our mind’s way of telling us that something is wrong and we need to get off our keesters to fix it. As I have said many times before, we only have a limited amount of energy to stay healthy, age gracefully and live happily. It is up to you to choose how you spend that energy. “Okay,” you say, “that is great and all, but HOW do I choose to not be miserable?” Well, the first thing is to look at your irrational thoughts. Life is 10% reality and 90% what we make of it. Unfortunately, many people grow up learning irrational ways of thinking and negative ways of viewing the world. Characteristics of Irrational Thoughts Irrational thoughts are inflexible or “must abatory thinking” Things must be just so. There are very few things in life we must do. I am about as rigid and inflexible as they come, I have learned that flexibility makes life a whole lot easier. 1. Get a stack of index cards. 2. One each card, write down one thing you feel you “must” do. Low and behold, you will often find that there are not enough hours in an 8 day week to get it all done. 3. Prioritize the cards in order of what is the most important. 4. Flip the cards over and write modifications to make the “musts” more flexible. For example, one of my musts is exercising. Long ago I was very rigid about exercising between 9 and 11 every single morning and had a very strict routine of what I did. As I had children, got a job etc., I quickly stopped being able to adhere as rigidly to that “must.” Other “musts” like caring for my kids and not getting fired moved up on the priority list. Nevertheless, I am a much nicer person if I get out my aggression at the gym, so on the back of the card, I would write alternatives like, workout at home, mow the lawn (a push mower and 2/3 of an acre gets out a lot of aggression), get up at 5 and go on a run etc. All these alternatives still let me accomplish the “must” of exercising, but provided me some flexibility. Irrational thoughts place unrealistic expectations on yourself or others and/or are non self accepting and/or fail to accept human fallibility. This one is harder, because most of us have difficulty identifying what “unrealistic” is. Further, what is unrealistic for you might not be unrealistic for me and vice versa. It is always helpful to ask someone else’s opinion of what is “realistic.” This goes for quantity and type of work as well as expectations for perfection. Life is much easier if you have realistic expectations of yourself and others and accept (and anticipate) that people make mistakes. Irrational thoughts demonstrate over concern with others' opinion of yourself. If you find yourself getting all wrapped up in trying to get someone’s approval, ask yourself, “Why do I need his/her approval?” Many times it is helpful to differentiate between “like” and “respect.” Okay, ideally your boss and co workers will like and respect you, but will it have a major impact on your life if they don’t? If they respect your work and know you do a good job, do you really care if they want to be your friend? People who need to be needed and must be liked often are exhausted trying to please everyone else and forget to take care of themselves. Irrational thoughts also assume your authority or superiority over others. This reminds me of a joke, How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? Answer: Only one, but it has to want to change. . . HarHarHar…I have said it before and will say it again, you cannot change another person. If you get caught in the trap of thinking that someone will change for you, you will be disappointed. When people change for anyone else but themselves, the change is only short lived. This type of thinking also leads to conflict with others who also see themselves as the center of the universe. Both of you cannot be the center of the universe and, chances are, neither one of you is right all the time. You may indeed be right. Some people may be stupid, nevertheless, sometimes we all have to be subordinate to people who are wrong or ignorant. Irrational thoughts assume a clear cut difference between right and wrong and that you have the ability to always accurately differentiate between the two. In reality, there are few clear cut answers. I tell my patients that they need to evaluate their decisions based on head heart and gut honesty. If your head, heart and gut all are okay with the decision, it is probably a good one. What does that mean? Well, ask yourself, does this seem to make sense (intellectual/head honesty), can I live with this decision (heart honesty) and does it feel right or turn my stomach (gut honesty). Irrational thoughts place you at the center of the universe. People get all upset when they make a mistake or say the wrong thing. Get over yourself! You are not going to be in control all of the time, and the things you do and say are not really that memorable. Even some of the biggest faux pas only get you ribbed for a few weeks. Then there is something new to grab people’s attention. Irrational thoughts over estimate your right to a trouble free life and under estimate your ability to cope with adversity. If you can view problems as challenges placed in your path to help you grow, it tends to take the edge off things. Many challenges are too great to cope with alone. The most effective people are able to realize when they need help or support from others. In sum, we all have irrational thoughts. When you start to feel angry, anxious or guilt ridden, review the list above to see which statements best describe the thought patterns that are making you unhappy. Ask yourself: “What am I getting upset about?” “What thoughts/beliefs/self talk do I have that are supporting my misery?” “Are these thoughts/beliefs/self statements rational, productive and helpful?” If they are not, replace them with more realistic thoughts/beliefs/self statements. Finally, remember that dwelling in negative emotions is just going to make you sick. Anger, anxiety and guilt are meant to make you take action, so get going!

Telemarketing Accessible Way Of Reaching Your Customers

It may be tiresome to deal with people from far off places. But telemarketing resolves this altogether. Telemarketing simply refers to a process that involves all marketing related functions using telephones. Telemarketing will connect you and your customers all the time of the day. This is the most accessible way for you to have your business easier to manage. From the use of telemarketing, you can communicate with your clients anywhere you go. It is the use of telephone to communicate with your clients the goods and services that your company is offering. You can directly connect with your prospective customers and receive their orders and inquiries from advertising and promotions direct to your phones. Since you will be transacting business with your clients using phones, telephone therefore is the most important tool needed in telemarketing. It is where you are going to solicit potential customers and sell your products. How are you going to determine whether you get a potential customer? It is important for you to know your customer's past records when dealing with them through phone so that the chances that you will see them in person in order to assess their status as customers will lessen. Processes such as the detection of their history of past purchase, information requests, credit limit entry and competition forms are necessary basis for you to know their standing in your business whether they will be a good and credible clients or not. It has been very common also for telemarketers that they often solicit funds from the different institutions particularly the business organizations and alumni associations. These organizations offer them special contributions that help in improving the service to their clients. However, some of the conservatives arrive at a certain analysis that the business of telemarketing is an unprincipled and unethical practice of business. Since it is just an interaction from telephone to telephone, the system sometimes abuses the privacy of an individual. Due to the said fact, they find it necessary to make a legislative policy in order to pacify the matter. A regulation is set up as to protect and uphold the rights of customers. There arises the policy known as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act formulated in the year 1991. This pertains to a restriction to the Telemarketing business in the United States. As an alternative, the companies just use a business code of ethics for them to continue with the business. After that, the most recent move done took place in the year 2004. Then, another restriction policy paved way for implementation by the telemarketing companies. The new rule stated the major and the minor rights of the clients engaging in telemarketing. This secures the fact that in spite of the intention of the company to gain more clients, if the client does not tolerate them, the telemarketing companies can do nothing about it. The new policy ensures the full protection and the privacy of the customers. If found any violation with the policy, there is always a corresponding penalty to the telemarketing company. There is nothing wrong to aim for high profits when you have a business but make sure also that you are not affecting the lives of other people already.

Sleeping Bag Ratings A New Idea

: It seems that sleeping bag ratings have no consistency. Temperature ratings are still determined entirely by the manufacturers of the bags. My 3 pound Sierra Designs bag, for example, was rated to 20 degrees. Honestly, it never kept me as warm as my 17 ounce Western Mountaineering sleeping bag, which is only rated down to 40 degrees. Isn't this a problem when you buy a bag? Maybe a 45 degree bag will keep you warmer than a 30 degree bag. Consistent Sleeping Bag Ratings No matter what temperature a bag is rated for, under any system of testing, it won't necessarily keep you warm to that temperature. We can't solve the problem of people having different metabolisms and bodies. A particular bag might be good for one person down to 20 degrees, while for another it is only good to 40 degrees. You generally can figure out if you are a cold or a warm sleeper, but that doesn't help if you don't know whether a bag is rated too high or too low. You need to know that if a bag says 30 degrees it will keep you warmer than one that says 40 degrees. With that, even if you add or subtract 10 or 20 degrees for your personal tastes, you can still figure out which bag is the warmer one. How do we get this consistency? Begin testing with any sleeping bag, by putting a bag of water in it that is human sized, weighing perhaps 160 pounds. Have three standard sizes for small, regular and large sleeping bags. Always start with the water temperature at 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and measure how long before it drops to 90 degrees. External air temperature has to always be the same too, whther it is 60 degrees or 40. The numbers are not crucial. What's important here is that once the standards are chosen, every bag is tested the same way, with the same conditions (even the temperature and material of the testing platform would have to be the same). This is what will give consistency to the sleeping bag ratings for warmth. Now, if a bag rated to 40 degrees keeps the water above 90 for two hours, a bag rated for 30 would obviously have to keep it above 90 degrees for a longer time. Pegging heat retention times to specific temperature ratings would be a bit tricky at first. However, once done, each new bag on the market could be submitted to the testing and quickly given a consistent rating. We would know that a lower rating would always mean a warmer bag, degree by degree. We could even have old bags tested to see if it is time to replace them. Manufacturer Acceptance? Would manufacturers pay a private testing company to have their bags rated? Some, at first, because it would be a an advantage for those companies who are already conservative in their temperature ratings. They would have "proof" that the bags are even warmer than they were claiming. Then, eventually, all bag makers would feel some motivation to have their sleeping bags tested, because consumers would be wary about buying ones that weren't tested. I hope someone will take this idea and run with it. An existing consumer rating company, like Consumer Reports, could do this on their own and report the results. Even if they listed the bags without temperature ratings, but in absolute order by which held the heat in the best, it would be very useful. One could look at the list and if their current bag kept them warm to 25 degrees, ythey would know that any bag higher on the list would be warmer. Isn't it time for consistent sleeping bag ratings?

Tips For Saving At The Pump As You Take To The Roads

Labor Day marks the end of two favorite summer pastimes: vacation road trips and summer blockbuster movie releases. Several of this summer's movies take you behind the wheel for exciting car chases with unbelievable maneuvers and speed defying moments. While the actors in these movies may not be thinking about fuel efficiency, with today's high gas prices, you certainly are. Firestone Complete Auto Care offers the following maintenance tips to help you save on fuel as you take to the roads this Labor Day weekend. * Check up. Look over your owner's manual to keep current on your scheduled maintenance. Inspect your vehicles' fluids to make sure they are all at the recommended levels. If unsure, have your vehicles inspected by a certified technician to ensure they are running as efficiently as possible. * Air up. Properly inflate all four tires and the spare to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended levels. Check the sticker on the inside door jamb or the owner's manual. Under normal operation, tires can lose approximately 1 pound per square inch (PSI) of pressure every month. For every 10 degree change in ambient temperature, tire pressure can change by approximately one PSI. Check tire pressure once a month and always when the car is cool meaning the car has been driven less than one mile or has not moved in at least three hours. * Line up. Have your vehicles' alignment checked and the tires balanced and rotated according to the vehicle owner's manual. Anything you can do to help your tires roll smoothly will result in improved fuel mileage. * Lighten up. If you have a trunk full of junk, empty it out and lighten the load for better fuel economy. If you drive a pickup truck and the bed is empty, leaving the tailgate down reduces drag and improves gas mileage. This Labor Day, don't be reckless with your money at the pump. Be sensible with your vehicle and driving habits and leave the recklessness to the movies.
