Law Firm Marketing And The I Hate Selling Syndrome

Law firm marketing and the “hating part” in the title depends on what you mean by selling don’t you think? After all many people think the word “sell” is a four letter word. If you mean the kind of traditional selling we find prevalent in the selling of new or used cars or if you think of selling as getting someone to purchase what you have to sell regardless of the means used then I would say I hate selling myself! In law firm marketing if you mean facilitating a person’s unique process in deciding what is in their highest and best interest (while suspending one’s own needs and supporting their decision making process) then I love selling. I assert, in law firm marketing, selling is not something to “hate” given how I define selling. In fact selling, given my definition, is a required skill set in serving people well and is critical in lawyer marketing. Given my definition what do you do? Read on. What does this law firm marketing coach recommend you do in building sales skills? First, I would suggest you think through your responsibility to your prospective clients to deliver “buyer facilitation” (more on this a bit later). Second, I would suggest you become familiar with some of the “consultative sales” models that have been developed that are applicable to lawyer marketing. Few attorneys have ever had any training in sales or even read a book on the subject (or so I have found in my work with over 500 attorneys). What are these sales models that can work with lawyer marketing? Read on. One model that works with law firm marketing and has a 30 year track record is the Sandler Sales Institute’s 7 Step System For Successful Selling. The book I found that is best for understanding this approach is David H. Sandler’s You Can’t Teach A Kid To Ride A Bike At A Seminar. There are around 175 Sandler franchisees around the country that have multiyear sales training programs you don’t need, however, you can find the book at Amazon. com. Even though I don’t agree with all that is said in this book it is one of the top three I recommend for law firm marketing. The next model is Integrity Selling For The 21st Century by Ron Willingham. One of it’s big strengths is talking about different “buyer types” so you don’t speak the same way to everyone, instead you speak to their “type” if you can. Finally, my top recommendation for lawyer marketing is Selling with Integrity by Sharon Drew Morgan. She has a website at buyingfacilitation. com/advantage. html where you can get her latest e book (which is an update of her hard copy book). Sharon’s model is the one I use in my work since it is “third generation” and a win/win situation. First came traditional selling, and then came the consultative sales model, and now the buyer facilitation model. One does not throw out consultative sales (represented in the first two books I mention) totally with buyer facilitation but consultative sales skills comes AFTER buyer facilitation. Also, it goes without saying traditional sales is out in law firm marketing. Why would sales distinctions (more on that in my client development e course) be important to learn in law firm marketing? First, you want everyone you talk with to have a good experience. Whether they hire you or not they have been profoundly served and will remember your unique connection with them as well as tell others. Second, you want your prospective client to be an educated consumer in making a decision since an educated consumer is more likely to say “yes” and say it sooner than later. Third, as a law firm marketing coach I am interested in your “conversion ratio” or how many of the people you talk with actually turn into clients. If I can help you improve your “conversion ratio” or please forgive me “closing ratio” then I will increase your income while you serve your clients better than ever. What is wrong with that?

    The Rights Of Parents

The Rights of Parents Sometimes it seems that once you drop your children off at the door of the school that your rights as parents seem to disappear. This is one of the most disturbing things about sending your child off to school and to public school in particular. In many subtle ways, the school seems to send the message to you that you should go home and bake cookies and not meddle in what is going on in that school. And many parents just blindly accept that implied relationship as long as the children come home relatively happy and seem to be passing so they can move on to the next grade. But we, as parents, must remember that at no time does anyone have the ability to take away your right to know what is going on with your child and what he or she is being taught. You gave birth to those children and pour all of your love and caring into them so they will be able to reflect your values and grow into good, responsible people with the values of their parents. Just because it’s time for the kids to go to public school, all of that caring and parenting you put in doesn’t go out the door. We do not live in a dictatorial state where we turn over our kids to the state to be raised to be good little soldiers and echo whatever state driven dogma they are being taught at school. And while this depiction of what goes on at school is a bit harsh and overly dramatic, you do have the right to question what is being taught at your children’s schools and object to any “indoctrination” that may be going on. The first line of defense that you as a good parent may have equipped your child with is the right to question authority in a respectful way. Now some of what is being taught is cut and dried facts that there is no reason to question. We know algebra works, basic physics have been proven and history, for the most part, is history. But there are other subjects that are more speculative. Much has been made in the last few years of subjects or approaches to subjects that have been promoted at public schools that amount to opinion or a political or religious orientation that is not the school’s right or responsibility to promote. So if you have taught your child they have the right to disagree with opinion or speculative teaching and they get in trouble for disagreeing with the school authorities, you are well within your rights to come to their defense. Schools do attempt to keep parents out of the daily operation of the school simply because to have hundreds of parents getting involved in the classrooms would be chaos. And when we turn out kids over to the school to conduct classes, the implied contract is that we will give them the leverage to conduct those classes without us getting underfoot. But that does not pass all of your rights as a parent to control both the environment of where your child will spend the day and the slant that the school may be putting on the teaching that is taking place. You have the right to be an active parent and look over the books and the syllabus of what your child is being taught. You have a right to know if what is being taught is grounded in fact or is theory and speculation so you can monitor if there is any “indoctrination”, however subtle, that is taking place. The public schools will resist your efforts to stay informed and to exercise your right to know what is going on down there. They do that based on the faulty assumption that you have no alternatives. But you do have choices. You can always take your child out of public schools who are overstepping their rights and put them in private schools who will respect your wishes, your viewpoints and the rights of your children to a good education based on facts, not opinions and conjecture. So let’s keep in mind that we do have resources to turn to if the school our children are in will not take parents rights into consideration. By using good old market pressure on the schools, we can keep them honest and doing a good job for our kids. PPPPP Word Count 746

    Branding Your Customers

What is Business Branding Branding your business is simply giving the public and your customers an image of your company. By knowing how your company is perceived by the rest of the world, you can use your image to instill trust, loyalty, and stability within your customers. When you think of Lowe’s Home Improvement you should think of a hardware store that focuses on low prices. When you think of Home Depot you should think of a hardware store that focuses on customer service. Lowes customer base is more interested in finding low prices for their hardware and supplies while the Home Depot customer base is more interested in having help finding what they need for their projects. Most of all companies have a logo and a slogan which is also part of their branding strategy. Typically a company will use their main theme in their slogan. Domino’s Pizza promotes themselves as the delivery experts while Papa John’s Pizza promotes themselves as the pricier Better Ingredients, Better Pizza. Again the conclusion is simple; the Domino’s customer base orders from Domino’s for a speedy delivery while Papa John’s customer base orders for the quality and taste. Business branding is a marketing strategy used to promote your companies goals which attract customers. Your Branding Strategy Choosing the right business branding strategy for your ecommerce home business will help in attracting customers that share a common need. Some people feel that providing great customer service is what they want to focus on. This is by far the most popular and attractive branding method used to this day. Then you have businesses that focus on providing the lowest prices possible. This also works very well, especially in a market with expensive name brand items. Taking care of your customers is very important because they are the source of your success. There will always be customers who want to find the best deal while there will be customers who will want help. The Web Marketplace Selling products on the internet is different than selling products in a brick and mortar store. There are still a lot of people who refuse to buy anything over the internet because of the inconvenience of waiting for the product to be shipped, payment methods, and the possibilities of fraud. The number of people becoming comfortable with buying products online is growing everyday and a lot of people are using the web to research products and prices before they go shopping. The Informative Presell The soul of the internet is information and this is what most people use the internet for. When consumers walk into department stores they already have something in mind they want to buy and they don’t need much if any information about the product. I have found that on the internet it is much better to provide good informative content about your products to make sales. The main reason people are online is that they are looking for information about the products they want to buy so it is important to provide everything you can about each and everyone of your products no matter how known or trivial they are. Business Branding With Product Information No matter what you choose, a good customer service policy or a low prices theme, you can use information to make sales. A good strategy I have seen is to use information as your companies branding strategy and combine the low prices and customer service themes. Set your store up to compare products with the information you provide for each product side by side. This is really useful to the customer who can then decide which one they want, the product that is cheaper or the product that is of better quality. This is the road that a lot of successful ecommerce businesses have taken because it provides a solution for each type of customer you may receive. Conclusion Having a targeted business branding strategy can eliminate any mystery your shoppers may feel when browsing your store. When you give your business a theme and show your customers your goals, they will be more willing to buy from you. Your business will have a direction and once you have established trust among your customers repeat sales will come. Your company will have morals to grow with and you can brand your customers into loyal buyers.

Looking After Your Dog Part Six Dog Health Insurance

Pet health insurance is not a novel idea by any means. The concept has been around for 15 20 years. Many people believe that having medical insurance for a pet is not justified, and is rather something that depicts indulgence. However, the truth is that pet health insurance has nothing to do with being lavish. It purely depends on how much you care for your pet. It is the question of whether you consider your pet a part of your family, and therefore, would want to have it insured. Pet health insurance plans take several aspects into consideration before awarding an insurance cover. The decision may be based on several considerations species, age, pre existing health conditions and lifestyle of the pet (i. e. a docile one compared to one of a sports dog). A few of the pet insurance companies don’t have an age limit. However, it’s easier to get pet health insurance if your pet isn’t too old. Therefore, insurance schemes typically start off at an early age of around 6 weeks for a dog. The decision to have pet health insurance also depends a lot on your pet’s current health. If, God forbid, your canine is suffering from a fatal ailment, then there is no point having him insured. Moreover, getting insurance in such a case is all the more difficult to say the least. Pet health insurance costs vary widely owing much to the broad variety of insurance packages available. Comprehensive pet health insurance schemes cover the costs of annual checkups, vaccinations, routine care and preventive medications, and spay/neuter surgeries. Partial plans only cover accident and illness costs. Insurance schemes are not for everyone. It might be the case that your dog’s current health condition does not satisfy the requirements of the insurance company. But you should not be disheartened in such a scenario. Some medical facilities offer pet wellness packages, which allow you to avail vaccinations and pet health checkups at discounted prices. You could go ahead for one such scheme.

Scrapbook Storage Solution For Small Spaces

If you have a passion for scrapbooking, but lack space, it can be very difficult. You might be forced to keep all of your scrapbook storage in a cabinet, closet or even possibly on to of your refrigerator. Having an actual space designated just for your scrapbook storage can really help when your supplies start to accumulate. That way you can easily find all the items you need to make your scrapbook projects easier and more efficient. It can get pretty time consuming having to sort through a mountain of materials to find the things you need. Here are some easy ideas that will help you with your scrapbook storage when you are lacking on space. Install some shelves: Find a wall that you can dedicate for scrapbook storage. Even in cramped spaces, you should be able to find a wall that you can use for your scrapbook storage. When you have found a great wall, install shelving from the floor to the ceiling. If you can’t build out, you can always build up. You can place doors on the shelves if you don’t want all of your supplies showing. Another great idea is to use bins that fit well on the shelves to organize and store your supplies. You can write on the outside of the bins with markers, or take a Polaroid of what’s inside the bin and hot glue it to the outside of the bin. This makes for quick access to all of your supplies. You can purchase office supply paper holder to place in your shelves and separate your papers as well. Maximize your space: The key to scrapbook storage for small spaces is to maximize your space. You want to be able to get as much as you can in as small an area as you can. If you don’t have enough room for shelving, try an ‘under the bed’ container to keep your scrapbook supplies in. You can purchase these from any home supply store. Place your small items such as stickers, markers, or small embellishments in labeled Ziploc bags and place them in your under the bed organizer. You can also keep things like paper and other supplies in here. A fun resource for really simple scrapbooking organizers is discountscrapbooking. net/organizers carriers. html This is great for people with very limited space who need scrapbook storage. You can pull out the organizer any time you need to, and your items are still organized and you can get to them quickly. If you have to, you can always dedicate one of the kitchen cabinets for your scrapbook storage. Just take all of the food out of it and put them in the other cabinets. This should only be done if you have absolutely not space at all to work with otherwise. No matter who you are or what your space is like, you can create scrapbook storage if you use your imagination and work with what you have. Use these great ideas to help you come up with a scrapbook storage plan today.

Vacuum Cleaners How Would We Manage Without Them

Vacuum cleaners are an absolute essential home appliance these days. We rely on our vacuum cleaner to help keep our homes free of dust and dirt; but how often do we go about our cleaning, without giving much thought to how efficient these machines really are? Before electric vacuum cleaners were invented, home cleaning was a major task. Floors had to be cleaned with brushes, brooms and mops. Rugs and carpets had to be removed from the floor, hung up outdoors, and beaten to remove the dust. These methods involved a lot of time and effort, and also caused health complaints. The early invention of non electric floor cleaning devices made home cleaning easier. People started looking for ways to improve the efficiency of these machines, and all kinds of contraptions were invented. Throughout the 100 year history of electric vacuum cleaners, there have been many improvements. The first electric vacuums were produced in the early 1900's. In 1908, the Hoover Company built the first electric vacuum cleaner that used both a cloth filter bag and cleaning attachments. During the years that followed, many different models and designs were created, each varying in size, weight, suction power, and other features. Of all the designs however, the upright vacuum cleaner remained the most popular. The latest upright vacuums available today make cleaning a lot easier. They are much lighter and versatile, and come in both bagged and bagless designs with handy tools to help remove dust from drapes, upholstery, and tricky, hard to reach places. Owning a bagless vacuum means you don’t ever have to buy vacuum bags. When it comes to emptying the dirt container, it can be emptied straight into your garbage bin. You'd want to do this outside in the yard or on the street to prevent dust going back into your house. If you're an allergy sufferer, you're best to stay with a bagged unit. The dust remains in a sealed bag, and when full, it can easily be removed and disposed of. There are many other types of vacuum cleaners available including the canister, the wet and dry vacuum, portable hand held units, and robotic vacuum cleaners. When buying a vacuum cleaner, it's important to choose the best vacuum to suit your home cleaning needs. You'll also want to think about what you have in your home. Do you have carpets and rugs, wooden floors, or perhaps a flight of stairs? Are you an allergy sufferer? Do you have pets indoors? If you spend a bit extra on a vacuum cleaner with stronger suction, consider it a good investment. Vacuuming regularly with a powerful vacuum will remove grit from deep within your carpets, and prevent them from wearing out.

Apparel And Equipment In Sports Fitness And Recreation

These days there are many big brands that cater to sports, fitness and recreation enthusiasts. Nike catapulted to number one when they hired basketball legend Michael Jordan to endorse for them because at the height of that advertising campaign everyone indeed wanted to be like Mike. They continued their reign and reinforced their being number one when they chose golf’s amazing newest star then Tiger Woods as another endorser. Adidas is also another leading brand whose latest campaign celebrate originality showcased their collaborations some of the best designers in the world. These brands not only battle in coming up with innovative products, getting the more popular image model or launching award winning advertising campaigns but they even have their presence felt in the movie industry. In 2000, the movie What Women Want starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt was a big hit. The story is about an advertising executive who one day woke up being able to read women’s minds. True, the actors and the plot make for a good movie but Nike gained so much from this movie. There is no better way to present a new way of thinking in terms of women’s shoes that are great in all areas sports, fitness and recreation. The movie explained the whole process that Nike had to go through to come up with one product. Just in case you are wondering, the Nike ad representatives in the movie were not actors they were really from Nike and that now Nike has an entire line for women simply called Nike Women. Adidas, on the other hand, had Goal. Goal is the success story of this small town boy who made it big in the soccerlandia. While more subtle than Nike, the movie stressed that Adidas is number one in football. Nike can claim their throne in the world of basketball but soccer or football will always have Adidas as its number one shoes. Sports equipments are more easygoing on their Ads, not much brouhaha, it is simply all about the quality of the equipment. Players sporting them are almost usually number one in their fields but they are not required to be as marketable as their apparel endorsers’ counterpart. The point being the best players in their respective fields uses us so if you decide to use as then you can end up number one as well. They are more scientific in their approach owing to details more than just the overall impact.

Billiards The Game That Almost Anyone Can Learn And Play

Billiards is a pretty cool game because about anyone can play the game. You don’t have to be a certain age or height and it doesn’t take much physical strength to play the game. We had a table in my parents basement when I was growing up and I have been hitting the balls around ever since I can remember. You might say that playing pool has always been a pretty big part of my life. We have many billiards leagues here in Pueblo Colorado and you will find players of all ages and sizes. There are a couple billiards leagues that allow minors 18 and above to play and several Rec. rooms with no age limits. We have a 10 year old in town who has been playing league for several years and he is quite competitive. We also have a couple pool players in wheel chairs as well as a few other disabilities. Pool is a great sport that everyone can play. I play in the BCA National Billiards Tournament every May in Las Vegas. There you will find players of all ages, male and female who all play pretty strong. You better run out or control the table with a safety when you get a shot or you may have no chance to win. My five year hold has already been shooting pool here and there for a few years now. He started out standing on an ice chest and then went to a milk crate. He is just now able to start shooting from the floor. His game could be good if he would get into practicing and playing by himself once in a while. He always wants me or his mom to play with him. He loses interest fairly quick right now, but I am sure that as he gets better, the game will get in his blood. Playing pool is a great way to pass the time. If you are competitive it’s a great way to compete. If you are a pool player, Have you studied the fundamentals of billiards? I would recommend taking a course and or reading a book about the fundamentals of pool and billiards. Try typing pool billiards tips into google and see what you come up with. Seek Out A True Internet Home Business Plan

Copyright 2006 . eliasg. com Every day, a seemingly countless number of people discouraged by the inevitable limitations of the traditional workplace strike out in a new direction as a home business owner. Although many make wise decisions that result in financial and personal well being, others make common errors that produce more disappointment and frustration than real profits. One of the most common mistakes is the failure to seek out an online home business plan that truly harnesses the power of technology. Although thousands upon thousands of business opportunities are offered online, many are little more than old methods sold via a web page. The businesses themselves don’t really take advantage of the Internet revolution at all. They are the same old plans we used to find advertised in magazines and newspapers dressed up with a flashy website. The smartest home business owners recognize that the growth of the Internet and its amazing ability to offer a low overhead and efficient means of reaching millions of potential customers make those opportunities custom tailored for today’s high tech society far more valuable than traditional plans. If you are considering escaping the nine to five world for something more rewarding, focus your attention on online business opportunities that are grounded in a solid understanding of the Internet. Don’t settle for an old school plan injected with a little bit of “web talk.” Although any traditional business model can benefit from the use of the Internet, those home business opportunities that are truly designed with today’s technological reality in mind offer the greatest chance for success. Many inadvertently embrace a plan espoused by a clever web site without understanding that the underlying business model is woefully outdated for the modern economy. Most people interested in a home business want to be able to succeed without making a massive initial investment and without having to constantly tend to traditional “brick and mortar” concerns. True Internet home business plans allow one to do just that! They are built with the Internet economy and its continued explosive growth in mind. These internet home business plans are designed by online experts who recognize the power of automation and residual income streams, instead of relying on tired and limp methods that have run their course. By seeking out a true Internet home business plan, one can successfully earn both direct and residual income from the comfort of their own home without suffering through the frustration and disappointment of making yesterday’s square pegs fit into today’s round holes.

More About Creating A Camping Supply List

There is more to a good camping checklist than a tent, sleeping bags, and clothes. (Read the first part of Creating a Camping Supply List for more info on these items.) You will also want to include the right food, cooking and kitchen supplies, and a variety of other camping items on your checklist. Camp cooking and preparing your favorite camping recipes is one of the best parts of a camping trip. Take care to include everything you need to prepare your meals, eat, and clean up. Many campgrounds provide charcoal grills at each campsite as well as picnic tables. If you are planning to use the facility grill, remember charcoal, and bring a table cloth, as well as table clips for breezy days. You may also want a camp stove or a camping grill. Bring along plenty of fuel to last through your trip, matches, and fire starters, as well. Skewers, camp forks, camp grills, and broiler baskets are all ideal for cooking over the open fire. You will also want camp cookware, pots, pans, and a Dutch oven, depending on the camping recipes you plan to prepare. Don’t forget the cooking utensils, spatulas, knives, and lids for your pots, as well as potholders or oven mitts. An extra folding table may come in handy for camp cooking and you will want plenty of garbage bags to dispose of your trash and leftovers. Avid campers often keep a set of dishes for camping trips, while some use paper plates and plastic utensils. Whichever you prefer, be sure to include them on your camping supply list. Plates, bowls, cups, mugs, and eating utensils are a must. You may also need measuring cups, a can opener, and other specialty utensils like peelers or shredders. Other important camp cooking items include dish soap, a dishpan, dish cloths and towels, and scrub pads for dirty pots and pans. Heavy duty aluminum foil is a camping necessity and you will want to remember cooking spray and storage containers as well. Your camping supply list may include several coolers and, after a few family camping trips, you will see how useful more than one cooler can be. The Coleman 50 Qt. ice chest and 9 Qt. Excursion cooler combo is ideal. A chest cooler is great for your campsite to hold soft drinks, juice, water, and perishable foods, while a smaller 6 pack cooler is perfect for visiting the beach or taking to the pool. There are several other items you should considering including on your camping checklist. Keep your maps, guidebooks, and any reservation confirmations nearby for easy access. Don’t forget sunscreen, bug repellant, and lip balm, as well as a pocket knife or multipurpose tool, flashlight, a camping lantern, and extra batteries, bulbs, and fuel for gas, kerosene, or propane lanterns. Regardless of where you are camping or how long your trip will last, one of the most important items on your camping checklist is a good first aid kit. It is a good idea to carry an emergency kit in your vehicle at all times and especially important while camping. If you are planning day hikes, boating outings, horseback riding, or other outdoor activities, you will want a smaller first aid kit that can fit inside your daypack as well.

If You Get Paid Your Work Is Not Done

If you are one of the 156 million workers in America who gets a paycheck, it may pay to take part in a new online payroll survey. The "Getting Paid In America" survey, sponsored by the American Payroll Association, gives America's workers more than just a chance to win a free paycheck and a trip to Las Vegas. It also gives them a chance to weigh in on important payroll issues that affect everyone who receives a paycheck. Challenges presented by an increasingly competitive global economy are forcing corporate America to look at new technologies and processes designed to improve the efficiency of payroll processing. However, these new technologies raise many questions such as how will personal information stored in company databases be secured? Or how will companies fail safe disaster recovery plans to ensure that employees get paid even in the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster? The free online survey is open to all U. S. workers. It takes only minutes to complete and poses simple but important questions on payroll related issues that ultimately help the payroll industry address the issues that affect how America's employees are paid. Based on final results, payroll professionals will aim to improve service while dealing with such issues as disaster recovery, payroll cards, biometric technology, offshoring of payroll functions and identity theft. Last year, more than 29,900 workers responded to the survey. The online survey is conducted as part of the annual National Payroll Week.

    Responsible Use Of Credit Cards

As we march head long into the new millennium it would seem that a Credit Card is an essential accessory of modern life. There are not many places on our planet where you can't use the 'fantastic plastic' for purchases large and small. In this phenomenon (the vastness of the credit card network) lies the ambush of the credit epidemic. Unfortunately for some of us we are unable to control the use of our credit cards and we fall into the downward spiral of ever deepening debt. The fact that financial institutions freely issue credit cards to those whom they almost certainly realize do not have the capacity to control their spending or the means to repay the limits of their credit is irresponsible on their part. Of course on the other hand there are millions of responsible users of credit. For many people a credit card is a means by which they can deal with their current situation, thereby allowing them to take control of their finances. By this means then, they can successfully manage to climb out of the slippery hole of debt and maintain control of their spending. The responsible use of credit cards involves us being in control of our lives. For many 'retail therapy' is an escape from the reality of what is actually happening in their day to day circumstances. To be a responsible Credit Card user there are several things we must consider: 1. Never spend more than we can really afford! It seems fairly obvious to the thinking person, however the temptation is always lurking there to use our Credit Cards for things we think we can't do without. 2. If we do need to use our Credit Card for large ticket items then do not use them again until we have completely eliminated the negative balance from that Card. 3. Ideally each month pay the entire balance outstanding, and at the very least pay more than the minimum payment amount (and hopefully do not spend any more until our Credit Card is again debt free). 4. If we are using our Credit Card for everything i. e. groceries, utility bills, daily expenses etc as a means of tracking our expenditure then set up an automatic payment system with our bank so that the balance is paid out each month within the interest free timeframe. 5. When we are going browsing – don’t take our card so that we aren't tempted to spend on unnecessary items. Our wallets can actually get along without our Credit Card (can we?). 6. If all else fails – freeze your Credit! Yes literally fill a large container with water, place your Credit Card in a sealable plastic bag and suspend it in the water, now place the container in the bottom of your freezer and leave in place until completely frozen. At the very least this will make you have some "thinking time" before you are able to use your card. Credit Cards are a good thing when used wisely. If we find ourselves in debt over our heads seek professional help. It is not a sign of weakness to ask for assistance in managing our finances, in fact it is quite the opposite. Many people have discovered release from crippling debt by taking the step and finding someone who will help them.
