Tips On How To Handle Abusive Relationships

A Relationship is a very valuable aspect in our life. It must be unique and something to be enjoyed by everyone. We all dream of having a very healthy relationship especially with our friends, family members and loved ones. It is a relationship wherein we enjoy each others company. We do things together like watching a basketball game or sometimes with the company of some friends. We are honest about our feelings with each other. There is mutual respect and sincerity between the two of us. It means we pay attention to each others opinion or thoughts. Always trying to reach out to each other to strengthen the bonds of the relationship. On the other hand, to have an unhealthy or abusive relationship is to experience the exact opposite when we are having a healthy relationship. We usually feel bad about ourselves. We do not verbalize our feelings. We take each other for granted. It could be in the form of hurting the other person verbally, abusing the person physically, emotional abuse and sexual abuse. Sometimes, both of them will be violent or be abusive to each other. There are situations wherein only one is abusive to the other. Most often, the abusive relationship does not happen immediately only after sometime. That will be the manifestation of the real self of the person you promised to live with. If we are experiencing an abusive relationship, then how are we to get out from such relationship? First and foremost, we need to talk to somebody we could trust, like for example our parents, a friend , guardian, counselor, teacher or a doctor. We should relate to them that we are having an unhealthy relationship and what the other person did so as to abuse us. If we are afraid to tell our parents, then we should approach somebody whom we trust to help us in telling our parents, to the counselor, security of the school, and even the police about the abuse. And we will be able to escape such relationship. In leaving an abusive relationship, sometimes it is too risky to do so. There is a necessity for us to make a plan for our safety so that everything will be done smoothly. It will surely not be difficult and safer if we will have a plan. These are the tips for our safety plan. • Do not be ashamed to tell your situation to somebody you trust. • Mention directly to the person abusing you that you do not want to see him or her in order that they will not be able to touch you. Do it when your guardian or parents are present. • If you are injured, go for treatment from your doctor or the hospital. • Record in a diary when the date of abuse happened. • Contact should be avoided with the person. • Do not walk alone. Be with your friends. • In case of emergency, look for a safer place like the police station. • Always bring your cellphone, phone cards and money. • In case the person is following you, do not hesitate to call 911. • Always have the domestic violence hotline numbers. Most of the times, it would happen that the various abuses we mentioned are done inside our very own home, we feel bad about this kind of situation. In other words, our home can no longer guarantee our safety and security with the other members of the family. Sexual abuse is committed right at the doorstep of our home. Child abuse is also done when a person assigned to take care of the child fails to do so. There are times when the child is physically hurt out of jealousy. And what ever happens, the parents and health caregivers must be prepared to protect and take care of the child.

    The History Of Buell Motorcycles

The History of Buell Motorcycles It has been said that Erik Buell, founder of Buell Motorcycles, was born on a motorcycle. While that story is a bit enhanced, Erik Buell did begin riding motorcycles at the tender age of 12. His intense passion of the machine led him create a line of extreme and supreme motorcycles. In the late 70s, Erik Buell worked his way through school by taking a part time job at a local motorcycle dealership. He had considerable knowledge of the workings of motorcycles and quickly advanced from trainee mechanic to service manager. During this time Buell also began racing motorcycles at the amateur level. After graduation, Buell went to work as a chassis engineer for Harley Davidson. In 1978, Erik Buell recorded the fastest newcomer qualifying time for the Daytona 200 motorcycle race. Four years later he left Harley Davidson to pursue his dream of designing his own race bike. In 1983, he did just that when he designed and built the RW750 motorcycle specifically to compete in the AMA Formula One road racing class. Buell tested the RW750 motorcycle throughout 1983 and clocked a top speed of 178 mph during testing at Talladega, Alabama. The first production of the Buell RW750 was released in the fall of 1984. The following year, the American Machinists Racing Team announced that 1985 would be the last year for Formula One racing. Buell's type of motorcycle would be eliminated from the racing circuit. If he wanted to continue in racing, he would have to go back to the drawing board and begin his design from scratch. Buell began working on building a world class sportsbike, powered by the Harley Davidson XR1000 engine. A total of fifty Buell RR1000 motorcycles were produced during 1987 88. In 1988 the Harley Davidson XR1000 engines were discontinued and Buell had to further re engineer his design. The resulting RR1200 model was introduced in 1988. This model used the new 1203cc Harley Davidson Evolution engine. Sixty five Buell RR1200 motorcycles were produced for sale through 1989. During this time, Buell also introduced the RS1200, a two seat version of the RR1200 model. Over 100 of these unique models were produced through 1990. The 1990s produced revolutionary designs to Buell motorcycles. The company expanded production facilities and added a new composite and paint shop, which led to greater flexibility and control over the manufacturing process. In 1991, Buell introduced a single seat version of the RS1200. The Thunderbolt S2 was introduced in 1994 under partnership with Harley Davidson. A sport touring version, the S2T, was added to the Buell line up in 1995. A new line of street bikes were introduced in 1996, including the Lightning S1 motorcycle which was voted "Hooligan Bike of the Year" by Cycle World Magazine. Other innovations included two new designs of the Thunderbolt motorcycle; the Thunderbolt S3 and the Thunderbolt S3T. Buell introduced the Cyclone M2 touring bike in 1997 and developed the Thunderstorm engine in 1998. In 1999, Buell rolled out completely redesigned models of the Lighting and Cyclone motorcycles. Both bikes had new body styles, frame, suspension, larger and more comfortable seats, and bold colors. At the end of 1999, Buell's new designs and engineering innovations pushed sales to more than 8,000 motorcycles in one year. Buell has always maintained a close relationship with Harley Davidson. In February 1994, Harley Davidson purchased 49 percent of Erik Buell's company and the new Buell Motorcycle Company was born. Four years later, Harley Davidson purchased another 49 percent; leaving Erik with a 2 percent share and a long term employment contract. The Buell Motorcycle Company is now a subsidiary of Harley Davidson, Inc.

    Becoming An Ebay Power Seller

Most people think of eBay as a place where they can change some of their old junk into cash, gaining some money from what otherwise might have ended up taking a trip to the dump. There are those, however, who have recognized the money making potential of eBay and brought it to a whole new level: the power seller. Power sellers on eBay have various methods of going about turning a tidy profit. They may employ age old methods such as beachcombing and garage saling in order to gain a large stockpile of inventory that they can then turn around and sell at the world’s largest auction at a handsome profit. Power sellers may also offer to sell other people’s goods on the eBay market place for a percentage of the profit or an up front fee. Regardless of their method, power sellers often find themselves making quite a bit of money simply by using the potential of the site to its fullest. The existence of the eBay professional is certainly no joke or figment of the imagination; there are over 700,000 individuals who make this their full time job, with another million supplementing their income through more casual eBay sales. These professionals have learned the ins and outs of the eBay system, and most understand the best ways to sell products for top dollar. The fact that the professionals have been in the market for so long should not discourage any new entrepreneur from taking the same steps themselves. The fact is, eBay is so huge, with over 1.4 billion items listed in 2005 and three million auctions closing every day, that it could stand a lot more competition before the professional selling business became cut throat. There are also ample resources to assist a prospective eBay power seller in starting up their new venture. Many books have been written already about successfully and strategically creating auctions, including where to list certain items, what is hot, what is not, and how to go about finding buyers. As with any business, one of the keys to eBay is to keep your clients happy. EBay operates through feedback, and this feedback is essential both for buyers and sellers in order to retain and evaluate the legitimacy of the business or the offer. Unlike other bid sites, however, eBay also offers a regulated feedback system, in order that professionals do not take a hit to their bottom line because some disgruntled buyer ended up being unhappy with the final price they paid, or they felt that the seller was too pushy when it came to asking for payment. An eBay power seller has hit upon a fun way to make some extra cash or even to earn a good full time income, without having to go out and invest in advertisements or finding a clientele. EBay brings clients from around the world to your product, and it is just a matter of getting the word to them that you have something that they will need.

10 Great Tips On Cooking Meals

If you are as busy as most people you are always looking for ways to feed your family in convenient, fast, yet not too expensive ways. Try the following suggestions: 1. Cooking several meals for the week at one time. It may take a few hours of your time up front but will pay off in the long run when you come home each evening and have a meal ready to eat in a short amount of time. Try cooking a roast and using part of it as a main meal and then using some for sandwiches, beef stroganoff or as part of a stir fry. Fry several pounds of hamburger and make a casserole, taco meat and chili to freeze for use later in the week. 2. After you return home from the grocery store clean all the fruits and vegetables you can. When it’s time for a meal all you will have to do is cook them or add them to a salad or soup. 3. Get ideas from the cooking shows on T. V. There are great shows that show you how to make a healthy meal in a short time. 4. Develop a revolving recipe file. If you get bogged down by the idea of having to plan 30 meals a month the recipe file is for you. Let family members choose some of their favorites and put the recipes in a monthly file. Flip to day five or fifteen and there is the meal just waiting to be cooked. 5. Enlist the help of the members of your family. As soon as the kids are old enough divide up the cooking responsibilities. Let everyone take turns with specific tasks or the whole meal. Pair these meals with fruit and veggies that have already been washed and cut up and you are ready for dinner. 6. Share the cooking with friends or neighbors. I’ve known people who cook four or five of the same meal and then trade with four or five other people. This works best when people share the same basic ideas on what they like and don’t like. It’s a great idea though for a very easy week of evening meals. 7. Save coupons for those convenience things at the grocery store. They have entire entrees and dinners either fresh or frozen. Sometimes they are rather pricy but with the coupons they are good to have on hand for an evening when everyone is running in different directions and time is of the essence. 8. It’s O. K. to eat out from time to time. Clip coupons for these occasions and if you have kids keep a look out for the places that have special prices for children. Some of the fast food restaurants are trying to offer item choices that are a little more healthy. 9. Many larger cities have businesses that prepare food for the evening meal. They seem expensive at first but are so convenient and available for one person or entire families. There are many menu choices and meals cooked for special diets. When you calculate the groceries you buy and the times you eat out each week, this may work for you. 10. Combine several of the above ideas into a plan that is best for you. It is possible with a little planning to cook meals that are quick and easy without spending hours in the kitchen every day.

Rc Car Drive Testing For Speed

Driving your RC car is what you cannot wait to do from the very beginning you start assembling the parts of your car to the day you finished it. The same excitement goes for those who prefer to purchase an already made RC car the excitement of putting the car on its track and driving it is such a sudden rush of blood; a good feeling. There are going to be challenges when driving RC cars at the beginning. But as the days, week and months go by; you will be able to drive more confidently. This would trigger your interest in driving faster, driving with style and driving either smoothly or aggressively. And so any opportunity that comes your way about driving with speed will interest you. Anything about driving RC cars interest you all of a sudden. This attitude is normal especially when you have the passion towards RC cars. But just like any hobby or recreational activities, there are lessons you have to learn, tips you need to take. The first one would always be about tuning your RC car before putting it on any RC tracks. Make sure that everything is in good condition which means to say that the springs, tires, shock absorbers and everything else functions well. Next, you would not think it necessary but it is important to take note of the settings of your RC car. This will be important for any changes that you make later on. Bring a stopwatch with you for any test run that you will be doing. If you are targeting to drive faster, it's recommended to rely on a stopwatch than what you think. Sometimes, there are going to be days when you would think your previous run is faster than the next but then you do not have the accurate evidence to base it to, so having a stopwatch is better. In aiming to drive faster or beating the current time you have from the last lap, try to see what works for you. Does an aggressive driving work better or you are usual smooth and familiar driving is good? How about changing to harder compound tires on your next run? What about the batteries? These are actually few of the many questions that you might ask yourself in aiming for speed. Be sure to take note of any changes you try so you would not have to try the same thing again if it still does not work. When you have decided on what works better for your RC car, still make a note. You might want to take on driving styles as well. Also, it's always important to keep your RC car in tune with parts functioning properly.

Tell Me What Your Website Does

You know exactly what your organisation does and what your website offers its users. This information has probably become second nature to you, but first time visitors to your site won't know this. As such, make sure you don't forget to tell them what you do. As soon as new site visitors arrive at your website the first thing they need to know, before anything else, is what you do. You can talk all you like about how great you are, but unless you spell out what you actually do, they won't even know what you're so great at! This oh so overlooked yet such basic of information can be communicated to your site visitors in a number of different ways: Page title Don't just use the page title to tell me who you are; tell me what you do too. If your company is called Bloggs Ltd don't only place the words, 'Bloggs Ltd' in the page title as there's plenty of room for more information. If Bloggs Ltd sells widgets, a good page title might be: 'Bloggs Ltd Buy widgets online'. Note in this example, 'Buy widgets online' was used to describe what Bloggs Ltd does, and not 'Widget seller'. When describing what it is you do be sure to speak the language of your users, and don't talk from your point of view. From your point of view you sell widgets, but from their point of view they want to buy widgets online, so do bear this in mind when authoring the page title. The page title is the first thing that appears on screen, and especially on dial up modems can be the only thing that displays for the first 10 seconds or so. For many web users this is the first piece of content they'll read on your site. The page title is also very important for search engines, which place more importance on the page title than any other on page element. Descriptive page titles are also essential for blind web users utilising screen readers, as it's the first thing that gets read aloud to them upon arriving at the page. Tagline A good tagline is one of the most important usability features on any website. A good tagline should be explanatory and not vague, clear and informative and about four to eight words in length. A tagline is different to a company slogan, in that the former describes what the organisation/website does whereas the latter is designed to evoke certain feeling or create a brand. 'Priceless' and 'I'm loving it' are slogans by Mastercard and McDonald's respectively they differ from taglines because they don't describe what the organisation does. Taglines are so important because no matter on what page site visitors enter your website, they'll always be able to quickly gain an understanding of what your organisation and website offers. This can be especially true for site visitors coming into internal pages from search engines by telling these site visitors what you do through the tagline, they may be more likely to explore your site beyond the initial page on which they enter. Taglines are also good for search engine optimisation, as they appear on every page right at the top of the page, an area on to which search engines place importance. Main heading The main heading on the homepage is one of the first pieces of text web users notice, especially on clean well laid out websites. Sticking a 'Welcome to our website' may seem to be friendly and welcoming to you, but to task driven site visitors it doesn't help in any way shape or form. A quick summary of what you do and/or what the website offers, in just four or five words can be highly effective (and very search engine friendly too!). Opening paragraph Perhaps the most important place on the homepage to tell your site visitors what you do, the opening paragraph must be short, succinct and straight to the point. Just one sentence is enough to put across this most basic yet fundamental of information. When writing this opening paragraph, remember to front load the content (this rule actually applies to every paragraph on the website). Front loading means putting the conclusion first, followed by the when, what, where and how. Don't write a story with a start, middle and conclusion generally speaking on the web, we scan looking for the information that we're after so put the conclusion first. This way, site visitors can read the conclusion first, which in this case is what your organisation actually does. If they want to know any more, they can then continue reading or jump to another section of the page. (To see front loading in action, read any newspaper article.) Exceptions So, does every website need to tell users what the organisation does in these four different places? Well, not necessarily. We all know what Mastercard and McDonalds do, so it could definitely be argued that websites for household names need not explicitly say what they do. What these sites should do instead is tell us what the website offers, and this message can (and should) be put across in any of the above four ways how else will site visitors quickly be able to find this out? Conclusion People are going to visit your site who don't know what you do. Before you can even begin selling to them you must tell them what your organisation and website does. In addition to fulfilling site visitors' immediate need (finding out what you do) you'll also be boosting your search engine rankings. If your organisation is a household name, then instead of explaining what you do, it may be wise to tell site visitors what they can do on your website.

Creating The Perfect Structure For Your Song

You know what they say about rules? Actually they say lots of things about rules but here's two rules were made to be broken, and you have to know what the rules are before you can break them. While Judge Dredd may not agree with the first, the second is certainly true and nevermore so than in writing a song. The song structure may not be the first thing you think about when you start writing. You probably work on the verse or chorus, or maybe you have a good riff that you want to expand into a song. So you get that down and then you start to think about the other parts the intro, how many verses, middle eight, do you want an instrumental, the ending... Some song genres have a fairly rigid format, others are more flexible, and you need to know where you can bend the rules and why you may not want to do so in order to make your song stand out from the others. Let's look at the sections you'll find in most songs and the part they play in song construction. Song parts Intro. Yes, this leads you into the song. It may be two, four or eight bars long or longer. Some songs don't have any intro at all. A pop song intro will often be reminiscent of the chorus or the hook. In a club song, it's often a good idea to have eight bars of rhythm to help the DJ to mix match your song. They say that music publishers typically only listen to the first 20 seconds of a song before deciding whether to reject it so if you're sending material to a publisher, keep the intro short and get into the song as quickly as possible. Save the 5 minute intros for the CD version. Verse. This is the preamble to the chorus. It sets the scene, certainly lyrically, and as the verses progress they often tell a story or recount episodes from a situation although that's by no means essential. They are typically eight or sixteen bars long and melodically not usually as strong as the chorus although, again, that's by no means essential. However, it often seems as if the songwriter ran out of ideas when writing the verse. One of the strengths of The Beatles' songs is that verses and choruses are equally strong and most people could hum or sing their way through most Beatles hits. Not so with many songs where the verses are little more than fillers to get you to the chorus. Chorus. This the bit everyone remembers, whistles and sings along to. It should be the strongest part of the song and generally is or contains the hook. It's usually eight or sixteen bars long. Middle eight. As a song progresses, there's a danger of boredom setting for the listener. The middle eight offers them a break and typically comes after a couple of verses and choruses. Some people think of it as an alternative verse and that's one way to look at it. It often modulates to a different key or introduces a new chord progression and it usually doesn't include the song title. However, all too often it's simply an excuse for waffling on for a few bars. Although it's called the middle eight it could be four or sixteen bars long. Bridge. Many people use the terms 'middle eight' and 'bridge' synonymously and so popular is this usage that it would be churlish to disagree. However, among those who prefer to note the difference, a bridge is a short section used to bridge the gap between verse and chorus. It may only be two or four bars long and it's often used when the verse and chorus are so different from each other that a 'joining' phrase helps bring them together. Instrumental. This is part of the song without any vocals. Yeah, okay. It's often an instrumental version of the verse or chorus, it may be an improvised variation on one of these, or it may be an entirely different tune and set of chords altogether. Sometimes it fits into a song where a vocal middle eight would otherwise go. Breakdown/Break. This term has been high jacked from songs from the early 1900s when it was common to either to reduce the instrumentation or stop it altogether while a tap dancer would strut his stuff. The term 'break' is still sometimes used to indicate an instrumental section. 'Breakdown' is now most commonly used in dance music for the section where the percussion breaks down or is reduced, and it may be the dance equivalent of the middle eight. Outro/Ending. Once upon a time, songs had definite endings but the mid 1950s heralded in the era of the fade out and songwriters thought they would never have to write an ending again. However, fade outs became such clichйs to the extent that fade out meant cop out so songwriters started writing endings again. With that in mind, you can do as you wish, and considering that the endings of most songs get talked over or cut short by radio DJs and mixed over by club DJs, you have only your artistic integrity and your CD listeners to answer to. Some songs work extremely well with fade outs but listen to songs in your chosen genre to see how other writers approach endings. But whatever you do, avoid like the plague the three time tag ending. Hook. The hook is not a song part as such; rather it's the term used to describe the part of the song that people remember and sing. It's what they buy the record for. It's usually the chorus although it need not be the entire chorus, but simply a two or four bar phrase. It could be an instrumental riff as in Whiter Shade of Pale or Smoke on the Water, or a processed vocal as in Cher's Believe. All together now Having described the parts of a song, let's see how they are commonly arranged. The most popular arrangement by far is simply verse chorus and repeat. Here are two variations on the theme: Intro Verse 1 Chorus Verse 2 Chorus Chorus Outro Intro Verse 1 Verse 2 Chorus Verse 3 Middle eight Chorus Chorus Outro You get the picture. However, these are conventions rather than rules so you can adapt, change or ignore them as you see fit. But they have developed for a reason and that is simply to make the song as immediately appealing to the listener as possible. Listen to some of the Stock, Aitken and Waterman hits of the 80s (it's not compulsory if you really can't bear to) and you'll see that most follow the simplest format, guaranteed to brainwash the listener with as many repeats of the hook as possible. They tend to be: Intro (similar to the chorus) Verse 1 Chorus Verse 2 Middle eight Chorus Chorus Outro Notice that the hook's there straight away in the intro, there's only one verse before the chorus so you get to it quicker, and the chorus tends to repeat at the end, just to imprint the hook firmly in your mind. There are obvious exceptions to these formats. Ambient, trance, chill out music and the like, are obvious candidates. With these you can start at the beginning and work through to the end creating an evolving music form without any clear verse/chorus structure. Genres such as trance tend to build to a series of crescendos several times throughout the song. However, even these types of song often have a hook or two on which listeners can hang their hat. Build ups and downs Bearing in mind that the purpose of a song is to keep the listeners listening and not allow them to get bored, you need variety within the song. Simply strumming a guitar and singing verse/chorus/verse/chorus won't cut the mustard unless you're in a folk club. The usual method is to start with a simple arrangement and add to it as the song progresses. So, the first verse might consist of light drums, bass and rhythm guitar. As you move into the second verse you could add strings or a synth pad. A drum fill takes you into the chorus which would include busier drums, maybe some additional percussion, a fuller string arrangement and perhaps a lead line. When you dip back to the verse, you revert to the simpler arrangement. The middle eight is usually a lighter arrangement than the chorus and gives you the opportunity to use different instrumentation if you want to. When you hit the second chorus, add backing vocals and a lead riff. The final chorus is the culmination the song and you can add more backing vocals, more percussion and additional lead lines. Listen to songs in the style you are writing and analyse their formats to see how far other exponents have stuck to or departed from the traditional formats. when you're familiar with the rules or conventions that they use, then you can experiment by breaking them. Patagonia One Of The Best Places For Whale Watching

While they once numbered in the millions, many whales are actually very close to extinction due to the whaling ships of the time who would go out and slaughter these animals for the blubber and other parts of the body that were used to make a good many products over the years. The eventual increase in value for whale ivory made the slaughter continue all the way through until the past few years where whaling ships have been banned from hunting anywhere in the world. This was a grand day as the number of whales is starting to increase and today the people of the world are able to view these magnificent animals in their natural habitat and during the mating ritual. Unlike other sea bound creatures, whales do not have a natural fear of man and will readily display and play for the many people who come out to watch them. Patagonia in South America is one of the best places on Earth to watch whales. The Southern Right whale uses this area as its primary mating ground, and they swim in by the thousands every year to mate and roll in the surf. This brings great delight to the locals and the tourists who flock to the area every year for the simple purpose of whale watching. The mating ritual of the whales is impressive to say the least. Not only are they rolling around to attract other mates, but the males will perform spectacular jumps, lifting their enormous bodies out of the water and then crashing while displacing thousands of gallons of water at the same time. This will continue for many days as the couples begin to pair off. The boat trips that are offered in this area take you right into the middle of the action. The whales are familiar with the boats and seem to know what the people want to see. It is not uncommon to have several whales surround a boat and perform for the crowd that is happily looking on. This is the whole reason for the trip. The Nuevo Gulf in South Patagonia is the best place to find whale watching in top condition. This area holds the Fauna Reserve which is a whale protected area where hunting and fishing is illegal. The area is home to some of the largest whales that can be found anywhere. The open sea is a dangerous place for many of the whales in the world. Even though there is a world wide ban on whaling, some companies still operate pirate operations that will take hundreds of whales every year. The governments of the surrounding countries are working hard to toughen the laws and increase the penalty for whaling. One whale will make over one hundred thousand dollars worth of income for the capture on the black market. The fine for taking a whale is only twenty thousand.

Home Based Business Lessons In Rope Tying

In the pursuit of a home based business you are bound to get discouraged. This isn’t the violent shout of doom, it is the gentle whisper of experience. There will be times when you come to the end of the day and wonder why you even tried. “Develop success from failures. Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping stones to success.” – Dale Carnegie If you were to base your future on a moment of frustration you would likely pull the shutters tight, grab a cup of coffee and swear off any future attempt at entrepreneurialism. However, emotion cannot be relied on to be the reliable indicator of success, failure or even future striving. “The most essential factor is persistence the determination never to allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement that must inevitably come.” James Whitcomb Riley One of the harsh realities of business is that there will be moments when it seems nothing is going right and you will lament the decision to move forward in the business endeavor you find yourself in. The good news is these moments will pass. “Good work habits help develop an internal toughness and a self confident attitude that will sustain you through every adversity and temporary discouragement.” Paul J. Fleyer If you have set your goals, are moving forward and have high accountability standards you will likely find the internal drive to continue to plod forward in spite of difficult circumstances. In the relentless pursuit of your goal you will likely find discouragement has been left behind. “Every great work, every great accomplishment, has been brought into manifestation through holding to the vision, and often just before the big achievement comes apparent failure and discouragement” Florence Scovel Shinn Who knows what might have happened if business owners had a universal no quit attitude. The truth is there may be a time to close shop and call it a day, but don’t go “gentle into that good night.” As Florence Scovel Shinn stated eloquently, failure and discouragement often hold the prelude to achievement and accomplishment. The result of personal attitude and a willingness to ‘tough it out’ is often astounding. The individual that has gone through the difficulty often has a more clearly defined focus and is less inclined to complain about smaller difficulties that once were a tremendous annoyance. “When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on.” Thomas Jefferson

    Front Door Mat 24

Front Door Mat A front door mat might not be something that you think about on a regular basis, it is something that everyone should have. This is true for us in the winter, as without one, my floors are a wreck. It would seem that taking off your shoes when you come into the house is just too much for my husband. He is always tracking through the house. I found that the mat does indeed cut down on some of the mess on the floor, and that I’m not getting quite so angry with him. A good front door mat will be one that easily cleans off the bottom of the shoe or boot. Though the ones that look like regular rugs are okay and will work, the ones with stiff bristles will work the best. We have one that is a simple black color with stiff bristles sticking up. This type of front door mat will work even if you only half heartedly brush your feet on the way in. The act of scuffing your boot or shoe on the mat just a few times takes off most of the snow and/or dirt that is clinging to the bottom. Though it won’t clean off everything, I have seen a huge improvement since we got this type. Because we live on the second floor, and the stairs are not heated, it is almost like we have a spare entry room. I put one front door mat out by the front door to get the majority of the gunk off of the bottom of everyone’s shoes, and then a carpet like front door mat before the French doors that lead into our home. This almost completely gets rid of any extra dirt and wetness before a person even walks into my home. It’s not perfect though. There are those who I would almost swear step over both of them just to track something into the house. I know this isn’t true, but there are days that I feel that way. These are the same people who mention what they have dragged dirt in, almost apologetically, and then shrug. Because I have hardwood floors, it’s not really a great idea to walk around shoeless in the wintertime in my home, so I guess I am just going to have to put up with it. Perhaps I need a front door mat that is bright orange so that no one can miss it.
